Tip of the Month
It's not just bakers that have to transport cakes! Here's a tip. Spread a yoga mat or Rubbermaid grip lines on the floor of your trunk. The stickiness of the mat keeps the cake box from sliding. In the box, cut a circular (or square...whatever shape the cake is) piece of cardboard that is an inch or so bigger than the cake, so that if it slides inside the box, the cake will not hit the sides of the box.

Quote of the Month
"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." -- Michael Jordan

President's Letter June 2011
Greetings! This is it, the last month of the ISES fiscal year. This year flew by in a blink of an eye, but before I wrap up the year there are still a few exciting things to bring to your attention. 2010 - 2011 was definitely a big year for us. Celebrating our 20th Year Anniversary, membership remained high during an economic recovery year, we continued to produced solid educational programs, we launched many successful member benefit and strategic partnership programs and strengthened our relationships with other ISES chapters. It's now time to celebrate our successes and the reason we are all here - you, our members! In your honor, this year's Members Only Event will take place at The Parlor on June 21st. It's free to all of our members,as our way of thanking you for your continuous support throughout the year. Click here for more info. It's that time again! Save the date - July 19th is our Annual Gala! This year you are in for a treat as the gala will be held at the Bently Reserve. Come and enjoy "The Other Side of Midnight...Stepping Out of the Grimm Pages for an Evening". Not only is this our annual fundraiser, but it's also a chance for our members to showcase their best. Our supportive sponsors pull out all the stops for this one - amazing food, spectacular entertainment, stunning décor and a chance to catch-up with your industry colleagues. Definitely an event not to miss! If you didn't do it last year, it's never too late. Now is your chance...GET INVOLVED! Tell us what you want to learn about, get CSEP certified, and join a committee. You don't need to make a huge commitment but we would love to hear from you. Serving as your President for the last year was a privilege. I am honored that you trusted me to guide us through the year and I am so grateful for all of your support. Thank you to the membership for your inspiration and enthusiasm. And to the Board, I've been lucky to have the best Board of Directors I could possibly ask for. We set the bar high, we worked hard and we achieved it. I am extremely proud of us. Thank you very much for your commitment these past 12 months, but more importantly, thank you for your friendship and dedication. With Valerie as your incoming President, I know next year is only going to be bigger and better. Cheers! Morgan Doan President, ISES-NCC

May Meeting
Annual Wine Country Event
In May, ISES-NCC took to the Wine Country. We enjoyed the scenic country side, we enjoyed the good company, we even enjoyed the wine....but NOT the rain.
Thanks so much to all of our members and guests that joined us this year for our Annual Wine Country Tour. This year's event took us to the beautiful Jacuzzi Winery where we took some time to catch up and network with one another. We had some laughs, enjoyed wonderful food courtesy of Wine Valley Catering, and took in the lovely sounds of the flamenco guitarists provided by Entire Productions.
After an hour of reuniting with friends, we hopped on board a luxury bus donated by Pure Luxury and made our way to Stone Tree Golf Club. Guests arrived just in time to take their seats at beautiful tables covered in linens and florals courtesy of La Tavola, Dragonfly Floral, and Vanda Floral. Our education program was on the "Power of Wine" and our speaker was West Coast Editor from the industry recognized Wine Spectator Magazine, Steve Heimoff. Steve gave lead through a trip down every virtual avenue of the wine country and piqued our interest in some the spectacular things to look out for in 2011's world of wine. Our memories were captured by the incredible Orange Photography. An event that will not soon be forgotten!
