President's Letter February 2011

Morgan DoanGreetings!

I know what you must be thinking... "No ISES meeting in February? What am I to do?" Well, don't worry. It's a short month, so just clear your schedule and get ready to join us on March 15th at the Palace Hotel!

Since we don't have a meeting this month, let's take a look back at what we've already accomplished in the first few weeks of 2011. If you ask me, ISES-NCC started off the year with a bang.  I'm not always one for bragging, but here are a few of our recent highlights!

1. We had a great turnout in Phoenix for Leadership training at the TSE conference. It was an unbelievably good time and we learned a ton, so I encourage you all to participate next year. Vivian Perez was the recipient of the SEARCH scholarship to attend TSE, so look for her recap of the trip on our website soon.

2.  We brought our Designer Showcase back for 2011 and had over 140 attendees...way to go!!! The San Francisco Design Center was the perfect location to host the showcase and I don't know about you, but I was completely inspired by our talented member designers and their incredible designs.  Kudos to Patrick, Heather and the entire programs committee for an excellent job!

3.  We also wanted to welcome our Platinum Level Strategic Partners - AT&T Park and Paula Le Duc Fine Catering.  To find out how you can get more involved and be a strategic partner, please contact Valerie Hopple.

It's been a busy and productive month for our chapter and we have a lot to look forward to in February. Somewhere between the Superbowl (Go Packers!) your board will be meeting this month to review our goals for the remainder of the year. Now is a great time to let us know if you have any suggestions, questions or comments so that we can incorporate your ideas into our planning for the rest of the year.

Enjoy the crisp weather.  I hope to see you at our next meeting on March 15th!

Yours truly,

Morgan Doan

President, ISES-NCC

January Meeting Recap
Semi Annual Design Showcase - Trends in Design & Decor

Inspired, inventive, and imaginative... everyone in attendance left this year's ISES-NCC Design Showcase with ideas whirling after an impressive showing from the five table design teams and a fantastic presentation by David Merrell of AOO Events in Los Angeles.

Guests enjoyed mingling and networking as they explored the first floor of the SF Design Center and each of the design team's showcases.  Attendees were treated to delicious hors d'oeuvres by Wolfgang Puck Catering and libations served by Perry's as they voted for their favorite designs.

Next, guests were seated to a beautiful dinner in the atrium of the Design Center.  The tables were set with shimmering champagne linens and graphic black and white tabletops provided by Classic Party Rentals, set-off by stunning floral arrangements by SoulFlower Floral Design.

During dinner the audience was entertained and inspired by a design trends presentation by David Merrell, while enjoying a meal by Wolfgang Puck. David Merrell, an accomplished planner to the stars, shared his vision and style for creating cutting-edge events, keeping up with trends, and re-inventing fabulous ideas to create something fresh and new.

The night was capped off with an awards presentation for the Top Designer. The title of Top Designer 2011 went to Hartmann Studios, who wowed attendees with a Safari escape in their African inspired design.  Kudos to all of the fabulous design teams: Blueprint Studios, Classic Party Rentals, Hartmann Studios, PRA San Francisco and Small Potatoes Catering & Events.

The Top Design Showcase just gets better and better, as the talent continues to develop within ISES-NCC. We can't wait to see what is in store for us in 2013!

A special thank you to our January sponsors: The Galleria at the San Francisco Design Center, Wolfgang Puck Catering, Perry's, Classic Party Rentals, Blueprint Studios, Orange Photography, SoulFlower Floral Design, Everything Audio Visual, Stage II Productions, Entire Productions, Mosaic Global Transportation, Total Success Staff.
