President's Letter July 2010
Greetings! The gavel has officially been passed, and I can't
tell you how excited and honored I am to be the President of ISES-NCC for the
2010-2011 year. First and foremost, I
wanted to thank Sara Hunt for her leadership and dedication over this past
year. Secondly, we've got a fantastic new Board of Directors, who are
enthusiastic in bringing you some fun and informative events this year.
This year, ISES Northern California is celebrating
its 20 Year Anniversary, a huge milestone, which gives us plenty of reasons
to pause and to reflect on where we started, how far we have come and what the
future holds. To honor the last 20
years, the Gala Committee has been busy planning an elegant evening of
spectacular celebrations.
Speaking of the gala...don't forget to register ASAP
to reserve your table or seat at the industry's most talked about event of the
year. So dress to the nines and meet us
at Terra to celebrate the "Earth's Elements" and our Chapter's 20th
year Anniversary on Tuesday, July 20th! Click here to register, but do it soon...this event will sell out!
I would like to recognize and congratulate many of
our chapter's members who have been nominated for the ISES Esprit Awards. The ISES Esprit Awards is an international
competition designed to honor the exceptional achievements of both individuals
and organizations from across the ISES membership, representing all facets of
events. Please be sure to congratulate
our follow members on their esteem nominations.
I'll keep this short since you will be hearing more
from me at the gala and throughout this year.
Here are a few "BIG" topics for our chapter:
1. Eventworld 2010 is right around the corner, August
5 - 7th in Baltimore, Maryland!
and to register. This is an educational opportunity that you can't afford to
miss. Attend the conference and learn how to get the most out of your ISES
membership. If you're planning on
attending, please let me know. It's a
great conference, and I hope to see you there!
2. Now is the perfect time to get involved. Join one
of our committees and help shape the future of our chapter. Visit our website for more info, and
please feel free to contact any member of your Board of Directors if you have
any questions.
3. Don't forget to renew your membership! It's easy to
do online. Just click here and log in...no
more hesitating! Renew before July 31 so you don't have to pay another $50
processing fee!
As always, thank you for your support of ISES and our Chapter; we would not be
here without you. I am looking forward
to a fabulous year and to celebrating with you at our Gala!
Cheers!
Morgan Doan ISES-NCC President

ISES-NCC 20th Anniversary Gala
Earths Elements: Celebrate, Appreciate, Inspire
Join
ISES-NCC on Tuesday, July 20th at Terra for our 20th Anniversary Gala
at Terra - San Francisco's premiere event venue and gallery. Spend the
evening networking, while enjoying great food & wine pairings and
exciting entertainment. This year's gala is an evening affair to
appreciate design inspiration drawn from Earth's elements. This
is an event you don't want to miss! The Gala is always the most talked
about industry event and a culmination of daring new ideas. The Gala
is also our most important fundraiser. Your support and attendance
will ensure that ISES-NCC can continue to provide you with the most
relevant and educational programs with outstanding speakers and provide
scholarships for the upcoming year. If you would like to make a donation to our Silent Auction, please contact Stacey Thornberry or Dani Lamas. Your generous donation will ensure the success of the ISES-NCC chapter.

June Meeting Recap
Members Only Event: A Day at the Ballpark
On June 22nd, ISES-NCC celebrated its members
with its Members Only Meeting at AT&T
Park. Members got a chance to be on the field
where our very own San Francisco Giants play baseball. Each guest had an opportunity to step up to the plate and test their batting skills, most of the members were
able to make contact with the ball while Ken Fisken and Sara Hunt hit a line drive to the outfield. Members also tried their luck at blackjack, craps and the rullet table for prize drawing tickets.
During the meeting, President Sara Hunt reflected on the
state of our chapter. Neil Adams swore in Morgan Doan as President,
Valerie Vasquez as President Elect, Jill Schnapps as VP of Membership, Patrick
McMichael as VP of Programs and Education, Josiline Shanahan as VP of
Communications, Sara Hunt as Past President and the following as Board of
Directors; Carla Flores, Ryann Sims, Thomas Landen, Elaine Herman, Damon
Guidry, Stacey Thornberry and Jaclyn Dunne. This month, ISES-NCC also lent its support to La
Casa de las Madres. Thirty years ago, La
Casa de las Madres opened San Francisco's
first domestic violence shelter for women and their children. The
once-quiet shelter has grown into the city's leading voice for abused women,
their children and teens-educating, promoting awareness and changing the
community's and the media's perceptions about domestic violence and its
victims. Through a broad service continuum, they also provide expert
intervention and prevention services to more than 10,000 community members
annually. Members donated toilet paper,
facial tissues, disposables razors and socks to the organization. Click here to see pictures of the
event provided by Doorstep Photography. ISES - NCC would like to thank the generous sponsors of our
June event: AT&T
Park, Bon Appetit, Aces
