President's Letter June 2010

Sarah Hunt photo
 Greetings!

Congratulations...this is the last time you have to stare at my mug shot when you read the ISES newsletter!

Another ISES year has come and gone, so here are a few parting notes from your president...

Our chapter excelled in 2010. Membership remained high during a challenging economic year, we produced amazing educational programs, we strengthened our relationships with other ISES chapters, and our gala was THE EVENT in the industry last year. So? So, it's time to celebrate our successes and the reason we are all here...our members! The FREE MEMBERS ONLY MEETING will take place at AT&T Park on June 22. You don't want to miss this event!

Save the date! Our gala will be at Terra on July 20. Not only is this our annual fundraiser, but it's also a chance for our members to showcase their best. Our supportive sponsors pull out all the stops for this one... amazing food, stimulating entertainment, jaw-dropping décor and a chance to catch-up with your industry colleagues. How can you possibly afford to miss this?

If you didn't do it last year, now is your chance...GET INVOLVED! Tell us what you want to learn about, get CSEP certified, join a committee. You don't need to make a huge commitment, but at least let us hear from you so that we can accomplish what we are here for...to support our members with their professional development.

Serving as your president for the last year was a privilege. I am honored that you trusted me to guide us through the year, and I am so grateful for all of your support throughout the process. Thanks to the membership for your inspiration. My motivation was a direct result of your insight, excitement, creativity and energy.

And to the Board-We set the bar high this year. We worked hard. We reached it. I could not be more proud of us as a collective unit. Thanks for your effort over the past 12 months, but more importantly, thanks for your friendship...I truly believe it is the key to our success.

Cheers!

June Meeting
Members Only Event - AT&T Park

Please join us for a relaxing day at the ballpark at the members only event on June 22nd.  Listen to the state of the ISES-NCC chapter and meet the new Board of Directors, while enjoying ballpark food and games.

For this year's annual "Thank You to our Members," ISES-NCC will be lending our support to Las Casa de las Madres. Thirty years ago, La Casa de las Madres opened San Francisco's first domestic violence shelter for women and their children.  The once-quiet shelter has grown into the city's leading voice for abused women, their children and teens-educating, promoting awareness and changing the community's and the media's perceptions about domestic violence and its victims.

La Casa de las Madres could not create so many opportunities for change without the generous support of the community. With your help they will continue to empower domestic violence victims daily to rediscover their strengths, their potentials and their choices.

Please help ISES-NCC support this local charity by donating personal care items such as the following:
Toilet paper, Diapers, Feminine Hygiene, Baby Wipes, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Soap, Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant, Disposables Razors, Lotions, Socks

May Meeting Recap
A Day in the Wine Country: A Culinary and Wine Experience at the Castle

On May 18th, ISES-NCC enjoyed their annual wine country trip to the stunning Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga. As guests arrived, they were greeted by the castle Maiden and Jester, provided by Casts of Thousands, and were guided to the Sunken Courtyard.  Wine from Castello di Amorosa and freshly baked wood fire pizzas from Villagio were enjoyed by all.

After networking, guests rotated between two programs that were offered throughout the castle.  In the Il Passito Room, owner of Left Coast Catering and former Top Chef Contestant, Laurine Wickett, treated everyone to a cooking demonstration of two different types of gazpacho.  They were delicious!!  In the Great Hall, Riedel Glassware and Castello di Amorosa gave a wine tasting class demonstrating how wine should taste if it's served in the proper glass.

By the time the classes ended, the sun had emerged for lunch on the Terrace.  Villagio had an endless buffet where guests could enjoy themselves over and over again and One Hope kept the wine glasses filled.  It was a wonderful day at Castello di Amorosa filled with networking, delicious food, and great wine that will not be soon forgotten.

ISES - NCC would like to thank the May Event sponsors for their generous support:

Castello di Amorosa, Villagio Inn Off-Site Catering, Classic Party Rentals, Associated Entertainment Consultants, JPLS, Cast of Thousands, Emily Payne Photography, Mosaic Global Transportation
