Industry News
12 Gallagher Lane is a newly renovated 3,300
square-foot gallery and private event space located in San Francisco's South of Market
neighborhood near Moscone West and Yerba
Buena Gardens. Featuring the works of NYC artist Hunt Slonem, the space is split
between a grand 2,500-foot first floor and an 800 square-foot private loft
area, perfect for intimate gatherings of 50-100. Slonem's colorful
paintings set a dramatic backdrop
for any reception. Period pieces such as a Roman marble bathtub, a
Baccarat chandelier, ancient sculptures, and a 1929 gilded piano complement the
ebonized white oak floors. Click Here for more information.

Tip of the Month
"Stop
treating referrals like a happy accident. Run a referral program that
includes regular meetings with people who agree to enthusiastically refer
you."
|
Quote of the Month
"But
I don't want to go among the mad people,' said Alice. 'Oh, you can't help
that,' said the cat. 'We're all mad here." - Lewis Carroll

A Day in the Wine Country: A Culinary and Wine Experience at the Castle
Join
ISES-NCC on May 18th for our annual wine country trip to the
stunning Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga. Spend the day exploring the spectacular architecture and beautiful
surroundings of this 13th Century, Tuscan-style castle. Upon

the Sunken Courtyard for networking and hors d'oeuvres. You will then be invited to the Great Hall to
sample the Castle's wines during a special Riedel glassware tasting or to the
Il Pasito Room for a cooking demonstration by Laurine Wickett of Top Chef
Season 6. There's no need to
choose...you'll have time to experience both! Following
the wine and cooking demos, Villagio Inn Off-Site Catering will treat you to a
delicious lunch on the Terrace, with breathtaking views of the Napa Valley,
Calistoga and Mount
St. Helena. Private tours will be available for you to

A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR
FREE PUBLICITY!!!!
Now is your chance to be published in Best Events magazine
(a re-launch of Agenda). The magazine goes out to special event planners,
corporate event planners and meeting planners. This is an editorial opportunity in front of a relevant
demographic - not advertising. They are looking to write a few articles, and
guess where they turned...ISES! 1) The larger features would be about recent
(within 4-6 months) corporate events for which there are high res images and
client OK to appear in print. These do not have to be huge events. In fact,
they like to have a selection of smaller, intimate events and some larger ones.
2) Another article is called Generous Hospitality -
a story about how restaurants/hotels/venues have done something interesting to
give something back to the community.... programs beyond donating a percentage of
proceeds or price reduction to non-profits.
3) Two charity or non-profit events - again with
high res pictures and OK to publish.
4) Venue news - this is a compilation article
featuring unusual venues, new venues, etc. You can talk about a recent event at
the venue ans they will create a larger article.
Copy deadline is May 13th, so events have to have occurred
before then! Please contact Susan Hanley to take advantage of this great
editorial opportunity!

National Volunteer Week Recap
In honor of National Volunteer Week seven members of our ISES NCC board
of directors donated their time to the San Francisco Food Bank. During our
April 20th visit we were able to distribute 2,040 pounds of rice and
feed over 6,000 hungry people. The San Francisco Food Bank works to end hunger in San Francisco. They
provide donated and purchased food to over 400 non-profit agencies, enabling
them to give nutritious meals or supplemental groceries to thousands of
low-income families and individuals in our community. If you would like to volunteer and make a difference visit their website:
