Tip of the Month
Update
your site and start a blog. If it's been more than three years since
you've updated your site - it's time to take a fresh look. Blogs can be
hosted for free and often come with free high-end design templates that only
require you to write content.

Quote of the Month

believe managing is like holding a dove in your hand. If you hold it too
tightly, you kill it, but if you hold it too loosely, you lose it." Tommy Lasorda

President's Letter February 2010
 Greetings!
I know what you must be thinking... "No ISES meeting in
February? What am I to do?"
Well, don't worry, it's a short month, so just clear your
schedule and get ready to join us on March 16th!
Since we don't have a meeting this month, let's take a look
back at what we've already accomplished in the first few weeks of 2010.
If you ask me, ISES-NCC started off the year with a bang.
I'm not always one for bragging, but continue reading below for a few of our
recent highlights!
-The Northern
California Chapter led the Western Region with the most new
members during the December membership drive...25 new members and counting!
Congrats to our membership committee for doing such a great job.
-We had a great turnout in New Orleans for
Leadership training at the TSE conference. It was an unbelievably good time and
we learned a ton, so I encourage you all to participate next year. Stacey
Thornberry was the recipient of the SEARCH scholarship to attend TSE, so look
for information from her recap of the trip on the site soon.
-We brought out vendor showcase
back for 2010 and had nearly 200 registrants...way to go!!! The Craneway was an
awesome location, and despite a little inclement weather, we had a great turnout
and wonderful lunch program. Kudos to Val, Josiline, and the entire programs
committee for a job well done.
It's been a busy and productive month for our chapter, and
we have a lot to look forward to in February. Somewhere between the Superbowl
(Go Saints!) and the Olympics, your board will be meeting this month to review
our goals for the remainder of the year. Now is a great time to let us know if
you have any suggestions, questions or comments so that we can incorporate your
ideas into our planning for the rest of the year.
Stay dry, and I hope to see you at our meeting on March 16th!
Happy February!
Sara

January Meeting Recap
Biennial Vendor Showcase
What a turn out! Despite
the torrential down pour, the ISES-NCC Biennial Vendor Showcase brought out 42
exhibitors and 195 guests to Craneway Pavilion. As the rain let up and the sun
came out, guests enjoyed the delicious bites of Jane Hammond Events and yummy waffles
and espresso from Travelin' Joe. Smooth
sounds of Denon and Doyle DJ company, amazing aerial performances by Gregangelo Entertainment, and fun phootobooths provided by San Francisco Photobooth
set the perfect stage to network.
After an hour and a
half of mixing and mingling, guests took their seats at beautifully adorned tables
dressed by Classic Party Rentals and Michael Daigian's florals. The scrumptious lunch was provided by Checker's
Catering. Matt Weinstein's energetic and
inspiring story of "What Bernie Madoff Couldn't Steal from Me" had guests up
off their chairs and participating in a memorable and exciting exercise.
Thank you to all of
our sponsors for making this year's vendor showcase a success!
