Tip of the Month

Don't tell clients you're the cheapest.  Saying that implies you're uncreative, unprofessional, bad at what you do and only interested in getting your client's money.
 Charge
what you're worth.
Quote of the Month

"Do not go where the path may lead,
go instead where there is no path
and leave a trail."

Presidents Letter October 2009

Sarah Hunt photo
 Greetings!

Happy October!

Seriously? Did I just say October? Where has this year gone?

I know we are all busy conjuring up costumes and deciding what type of face to carve in our pumpkins, so I'll keep this short.

#1. Ask anyone. I don't beg often, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, take 2 minutes to fill out this survey. It's only 10 questions, and you could win a FREE registration to our next meeting if you complete this by October 15th! There aren't any right answers...we just really want to get an idea about how familiar our chapter is with ISES international and the resources available to us so that we can better help you out. Here's the link...PLEASE?

#2. ISES FIRST! As we mentioned at the last meeting, we really want to help promote our fellow ISES members who are committed to elevating our industry standards. Please spread awareness of ISES by adding the logo to your website or email signature. That's it! It let's people know you are among the cream of the crop, and it only take a few clicks. And again...you can win a free meeting if you send Jill an email with your new ISES signature or a link to your site proudly displaying the ISES logo. Members only...it's one of your perks! Click here for info on the program and to download the logo.

#3. That's right...we're bringing IT back. No, we're not bringing "sexy" back (I mean, come on...we never lost it!). It's the VENDOR SHOWCASE in January. Click here to find out how you can take advantage of this great opportunity to showcase your company! This is always one of our highest attended meetings, so don't miss out!

1.  2.  3.   I kept it simple.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all at our November 17th meeting at the new Disney Family Museum.

Happy Halloween!

November Meeting
Professional Responsibility: The Dos and Don'ts of Social Media

Join ISES-NCC on November 17th at the recently debuted Walt Disney Family Museum. The is event is sure to be filled with beneficial networking, fine food and professional development. Learn how to use social media to your advantage and the common pitfalls to avoid.  This session will go beyond the why you should use this ever-growing medium and dig into the how.

At this month's event, ISES-NCC will be collecting food items for St. Anthony's Dining Room. The St. Anthony Foundation serves free dinners to the poor and homeless each holiday season-with staff and volunteers preparing turkeys, pumpkin pies and mashed potatoes to start serving Thanksgiving morning.

Bring canned goods and/or bulk food to the meeting to support this cause. A small donation this holiday season will make a big difference to someone in need. Learn more at www.stanthonysf.org.

Thank you to our generous sponsors for supporting this event: The Walt Disney Family Museum, Wolfgang Puck Catering, James Brian Fidelibus, Got Light, Total Success, Hope Wine.

We look Forward to seeing you on November 17th!

September Meeting Recap
Entertainment and You: Why You Need it, How to Find It, and How to Produce It.

On Tuesday, September 15th, 2009, ISES-NCC held it's meeting at the beautiful renovated Fox Theatre in Oakland.  Guests spent the morning networking at The Den while enjoying fabulous music from Laurent Forgo and His Ensemble, magic tricks from Patrick Martin and having their pictures drawn by Rhonda Grossman.  After the networking hour, guests were invited into the theatre by a beat box juggler, provided by Cast of Thousands. Individuals then enjoyed a three course meal from Living Room Events in the Orchestra Pit while Patrick Martin performed and then became the moderator for the panel discussion about Entertainment.  Peter Berliner, founder of Innovative Entertainment, Richard Toscano, Director of Special Events at George P Johnson, and Jana Atlas from Atlas International in Foster City were part of our panel of industry experts in the field of entertainment.  They spoke on why we need entertainment, how to find it and how to produce it.  Past experiences were shared, new ideas were given and the audience left knowing more about the world of Entertainment.

ISES - NCC would like to thank September Event sponsors for their generous support:   Fox Theatre, Living Room Events, Hartmann Studios, Riverview Systems, Method 42 Productions, Cast of Thousands, Laurent Fourgo, Patrick Martin Magic, Rhonda Grossman.
