The Bystander's Experience of Worship

photoThe bystander, the university student and the truck driver would each tell you that they did not plan to give their hearts to Jesus when they woke up that morning.

In 2002 a man sitting in a coffee shop on Bloor Street heard the sound of music and saw all these happy people singing and dancing as the parade went by. Someone shared the Good News with him and today seven years later he's a pastor of a church.

At the very first parade a truck driver hired to drive a flatbed truck for one of the floats had an experience that caused him to make Jesus Christ Lord of his life; become totally free from alcoholism and he is now a Salvation Army Officer helping others in need.

A Jewish student from the University of Toronto was awakened in his dorm when he heard the sound of the Shofar coming from the parade rally at Queen's Park. He ran outside in his pajamas to the information booth and told a Festival volunteer that he saw angels ascending and descending and he thought the Messiah was coming. He accepted the Messiah into his heart that day.

We cannot measure or manufature the work of the Holy Spirit when we come together as one in worship in the public place bringing the church to the people and allowing the bystander to experience worship.

"These people have I formed for Myself, they shall show forth My praise." Isaiah 43:21

"The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with ONE VOICE, to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: "He is good; His love endures forever." Then the temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God". II Chronicles 5:13-14

Let us allow the glory of the Lord to fill the streets of downtown Toronto on Saturday, September 19, 2009.
