Brett 2KCN Host Brett Bara
teams up with
Lands End
Our own Brett Bara, host of Knit and Crochet Now! TV has teamed up with Lands End to promote their "FeelGood" campaign. Lands End is donating 5,000 pounds of the ultra soft FeelGood yarn to knitters and crocheters to make 7" x 9"squares for Warm Up America, a charity that donates hand knitted or crocheted Feel Good Logoitems to people in need. That's enough yarn to make 64,000 squares or 2,000 blankets! Visit the FeelGood website to learn how you can participate.

To kick off the event, Brett will be appearing on the CBS Early Show on Wednesday, Sept 29 between 7-9AM. Knitters and crocheters who live in the NYC area are invited to attend the taping and participate in a giant Knit-Out on the plaza at 59th & 5th Avenue. You'll receive FeelGood yarn for making squares during the taping and then afterwards receive a private tour of the Early Show studio. Spread the word! The more the merrier! Email Brett to let her know how many people will be in your group. Show the world how many people knit and crochet! And, of course, everyone is encouraged to watch the show for lots of yarny fun.

HEAVEN AND HELL
A Little Bit of Heaven
Heaven
With Halloween and the Day of the Dead just around the corner, we thought fiber artist Melissa Maddoni Haims' personal vision of Heaven and Hell was the perfect addition to our September newsletter. The installation grew from her mother's final request that Melissa finish a knitted scarf she had just begun. Melissa
A Taste of Hell
Hell
finished the scarf as her mother was dying and then she continued to crochet and knit as she worked through the Heaven and Hell of memories of her mom. Her mother had been an excellent knitter while Melissa was just a beginner. As she knitted and crocheted she worked through her grief, became a better knitter and crocheter and is now able to share her artistic vision and memories of her mother with the world. See more pictures on Melissa's website.
If you live in the Phildelphia area, you can also see the actual installation during the Philadelphia Artists Open Studio Tour the first two weekends in October.

WEST COAST FUN...
Great events are happening on the West Coast too! The Crochet Liberation Front is sponsoring a 4 day retreat at Cama State Park. (You can tell by their name that as much as they love crochet, humor has an important place on their agenda too.) Have fun, learn new skills, whittle your own crochet hook, and take classes with world class teachers. Stay for the whole retreat or just come for a day.
