pianoLyrical Lace
What could be a better introduction to our newsletter devoted to knitted and crocheted lace than this  whimsical lace covered piano. Yes, it is a full-size piano. It was made by innovative Paris-based artist Joana Vasconcelos who has used crochet for creative expression for several years. Since her debut at the 2005 Venice Biennale she has continued to surprise the art world with her innovative use of crochet combined with everyday objects such as computers, animals and other found objects. To see more of her work including other views of the piano, visit her website. Click on the swirling "Work" tab and then click on the file folders for 2008 and 2009 to see more unbelievable crocheted lace.
