Light up your life
with a knitted lamp....
In June we visited the Dwell Design Conference in L.A. At the Sleekidentity Booth we were bowled over by the clever accessories and furniture. And, of course, being avid knitters and crocheters, we fell in love with this knitted lamp by design firm llot llov.
Made using natural fibers, a cool-to-the-touch silicone covered light bulb and a longgggg cord, you could drape these lamps throughout your house. A custom design available through decorators, it isn't cheap, but if you love the idea, start practicing your I-cord or get out that old spool knitter. Inspired DIY! Visit the Sleekidentity website to see a multitude of other original home furnishings. |
If you are traveling to the mid-west this summer, don't miss these two great crafting events.

FREE PATTERNS FOR THE PERFECT
ON-THE-GO PROJECTS
Nobody wants to lug along a bulky afghan-in-progress when traveling, but this month's two free afghan patterns, courtesy of Bernat Yarns, are perfect traveling companions because they are made up of individual blocks. Complete a block between rest stops or airports, then tuck the completed square in your suitcase. By the time vacation is over, you may have a complete afghan!
Download this knitted Mitered Mosaic Motifs afghan to take along. This lovely afghan uses just one mitered square pattern and Bernat's unusual multi-colored yarn. The long color changes in Bernat Mosaic Yarn work perfectly with the simple pattern to make every square unique.
The crochet Circles in Squares afghan is made of just four different motifs worked in differnt color combinations. Choose Bernat Mosaic to make it using just one yarn or choose Bernat Super Saver Yarn for your main color and accents from your stash to make the look your own.
