 Lost Generation

I'm sure many of you have seen this short video entitled "Lost Generation" but if you have not, take a quick look here.  It's short - I promise.

Surprising to me, this video was produced by AARP - an organization for those 55+ - the exact OPPOSITE of our generation's age bracket!  So what do they know about us that we don't?  What do they see in our generation?  Is this a message of hope for our generation from generations gone before us or will it be our generation's statement?  I guess that's for us to decide.

We've been called a lot of things - Gen X, Gen Y, Mllenials, the Next Generation... we've heard it all but what I find interesting is this video is entitled "Lost Generation."  Is this a reflection on our generation, a statement that a generation with these morals, ideas and values will not exist again or just a clever title implying that we're the generation in love with the hit TV series?  Really, I think it could be any of the above.

Times have changed - that's a given.  Some of the changes are positive while others have presented a challenge.  IGNITE members are a mix of Generation X and Generation Y members.  We grew up with cable TV but not always two parents.  We've grown up with technology and the Internet.  We are a passionate group looking for transparency in companies.  But how to we communicate our wants, needs and desires to other generations, to other YPs and to our community?

Enter IGNITE.  By becoming a member of IGNITE, you hIGNITEave taken the first step in making your voice heard and changing your community to be YP friendly, welcoming and desirable.  But, your IGNITE membership is a lot like that membership to the gym sitting in your wallet - it's worthless unless you use it.

So, where to start?  Well, you're in lucky.     The IGNITE Leadership Team is coming together on June 23 and again on June 30 to let you know our plans for the future and to take you input.  If you're looking to become more involved in IGNITE, whether it be for personal or professional, this member's meeting is the first step.  Perhaps you just have a few good ideas that you'd like to share.  Perhaps you'd just like to know what the future holds.  Maybe you want to know where you can get the latest updates and current info on IGNITE.  Maybe you just want to have a good meal with some new friends.  No matter what your reason, the member's meeting offers something for every one.

Become involved.  Help make our generation the NEXT generation - the generation that makes a difference here in Rockford.  We've got a lot of opportunity for growth both within IGNITE and within our community.  It starts today.  Let's make our generation a generation Rockford has never seen before.

See you on the 23rd or the 30th!
