Board Member Spotlight: Marshall Barton
This month we introduce you to Mrs. Marshall Barton. Marshall has served on our Board for the past year, but her passion for the homeless goes back to her college days. Through her many years of volunteering, Marshall has seen first-hand the issues facing the homeless push far beyond not having a place to live. She has a true passion for breaking the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence permanently and we are blessed to have her passion and expertise on our board to support Rainbow Village families. Marshall currently serves as Vice Chair and will serve as Chairman of the Board in 2013. Read more... |

Volunteer Recognition
Thanks to all of you that came out to support our 2011 Barnes & Noble Bookfair in December. We made a record $1,800 and could not have done it without you! Kudos to Mary Czerney for working like a Trojan to make this year's event so successful.
Not only did she do an outstanding job organizing the event for Rainbow Village, but she recently won the Gold Award for Girl Scouts. This highest honor is a true testimony to her. We'd also like to thank Andrea McMan for organizing the Norcross Bookfair. Both of these wonderful volunteers deserve a special thank you.
We'd like to make a quick correction to a tidbit we included in last month's newsletter. We reported that Andrew Bacik and Melissa Miller provided, assembled and decorated the Christmas trees for our families. We need to also recognize the great folks at Results Realty for sponsoring our trees. Terry Swanson, and his wife Melissa, spearheaded the effort and many realtors were involved. They also donated Publix and American Express gift cards to our families and gave an additional $1000 donation that will go toward getting a Rainbow Village Food Pantry started. We are very excited about the new partnership we've launched with Results Realty! We'd also like to thank John Barber's family for their help with this project.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that gave so generously during the 2011 holiday season. There were so many involved that we could not possibly call everyone by name. The amount of time, energy and resources you gave was immeasurable and we could never find the words to thank you enough for all you did to make this a joyous season for our families!

Let Matching Gifts Expand Your Impact
Does your company offer matching funds when you make a charitable donation? We have several donors that have expanded the impact of their personal giving thanks to this great corporate benefit.
Rainbow Village Angel and Big Recess volunteer, Reagan Havens recently accepted a new position at RSUI Group, Inc. in Atlanta and was thrilled to learn that his company offers a 2-to-1 match. Havens says "It feels great to work for a company that gives generously back to the community, especially to causes that are important to me. Their match inspires me to give more because it allows me to bring more resources to the table to support the Rainbow Village mission. I challenge everyone that has a match program available to them to leverage your giving so we can all have greater impact on breaking the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence."
We currently have other matches coming in from Cisco, Bank of America and McKesson. We know there are many other companies offering matches, so call your human resource departments today and ask what's available to you!
