Sponsor a Family This Holiday Season

If you're looking for a special way to give back this holiday season, consider sponsoring a Rainbow Village family.
We offer two great sponsorship options:
Sponsor A Family This gives you the option to play Santa for an entire family! We provide the family's wish list and you have fun shopping and providing those things their hearts desire.
Sponsor the Holiday Store Each year our adult residents are given the opportunity to shop at our Holiday Store. Allowing them to choose gifts themselves creates a positive level of dignity and self-worth and helps them feel that they provided Christmas for their families. Sponsors simply donate items to the store and residents can choose a few items for their children or home.
To get all the details, contact Lynnette Ward at 770-497-1888 (ext. 14) or lward@rainbowvillage.org.

Rainbow Village Welcomes New Chief Operations Officer
We would also like to welcome and introduce Dr. John Winston Smith, our new Chief Operations Officer. Previously, John oversaw a partnership we had with Anchorhold, Inc., providing services to Rainbow Village families.
John is an honored veteran of the US Air Force, enjoyed a 30 year career in research and development, and is a former pastor in the United Methodist Church. He earned a BS in Ministry Studies from Shorter University, a Masters of Theological Studies from Emory University's Candler School of Theology, and a Doctorate of Education Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary. His operational experience stems from his work at Digital Transmissions Systems, Midacom, Scientific Atlanta, Media 4, Echostar Data Networks, and Dish Network. His pastoral care and education career includes work with Peachtree Christian Hospice, Phillips State Prison, Anchorhold, Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, Atlanta Medical Center, Trinity United Methodist Church, and BASIC.
Excited to serve as our new COO, John shares, "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to blend my experience in business, management, education and pastoral care to serve such an amazing organization that is changing lives every day. I have a personal passion for families in crisis and am honored to be back here serving Rainbow Village." John's passion, coupled with his savvy business acumen, will be invaluable as we grow and expand.

Volunteer Corner
Akzo Nobel volunteers, from left to right: Lynne Greenfield, OEM Information Specialist; Sandra Cathy, Rainbow Village Chief Development Officer; Sarah Conrad, Administrative Assistant; and Barbara Miller, Facilities Manager
Akzo Nobel volunteers came out recently and hosted Big Recess for our kids. They provided a picnic and ice cream social in the Duluth Town Green, as well as 10 exciting play stations. It was a wonderful night that left the kids smiling from ear-to-ear!
Siemens One volunteers are taking Rainbow Village kids to see The Muppets in December. These outings make for wonderful memories our children cherish for a lifetime! If you'd like to provide cultural and entertainment experiences for Rainbow Village children and families, give us a call!
Barnes & Noble recently donated 26 boxes of books to Rainbow Village to help expand our library. Our families have had so much fun exploring so many new reading adventures. Barnes & Noble's generosity helps us to instill in our children the love of reading and reinforce to our parents the importance of learning for a lifetime.
Cornerstone Church has been so wonderful to provide throughout the year birthday cakes for our residents. Making birthdays special at Rainbow Village continues to show our residents how much we believe in them and rejoice in the blessings of their lives.

So You Think You Can Dance?
Melanie Hawthorne Studios is offering our middle and high schoolers the opportunity to learn hip-hop dance on Tuesdays and Thursdays. As well, she's offering a 6-week course on Music Appreciation on Wednesdays.
No doubt our residents would never have such an opportunity without the support of Melanie and her team. Who knows, we might just see a budding Rainbow Village star pop up on "So You Think You Can Dance" soon!

A New Roof Over Our Heads
That's right... the new roofs are up! If you haven't been by the construction site lately you should make a point to swing by. The walls are up and the roofs are shingled. Thanks to this beautiful fall weather, construction is moving along at a rapid pace and our move-in date this spring will be here before we know it. These are exciting times. Please continue to help us spread the word about our capital campaign and encourage others to contribute to the dream of our all-inclusive Village located at 3427 Duluth Highway 120, Duluth, GA 30096!

A Thrifty New Partnership
In partnership with Tim Hur and his store, The Gwinnett Thrift Store, Rainbow Village now has a consignment booth that will help generate revenue to support our families.
