"Nature means so many things to me and evokes so many feelings. Not only is the outdoors a 'spiritual', calming, and contemplating place for me as an individual; it evokes creativity and a deep senes of happiness and tranquility. Being a part of the BPR  volunteer program felt like (and was) recreation and so much less like work. I would do this anytime just out of the enjoyment!" ~Haley Matthews, recent CSCP graduate

For CSCP

Thanks for all you are doing for our community!

Requirements:

Take at least two qualifying Bloomington Parks and Recreation programs, and volunteer at least 10 hours within one year. See links below for program and volunteer opportunities.

  • Click here to register online for any Parks and Recreation program.

If you would like your Citizen Scientist experience to have a certain emphasis, let me know and I'll help you choose programs and volunteer opportunities that fit best with your interests.

  •

If you have completed your two classes and 10 volunteer hours, be sure to turn in your forms to me so I can make your accomplishments official!

Want more? We can do that! Successive CSCP levels are available:

Bronze = 2 programs min./10 hours volunteering min./1 year max. (basic program)

Silver = 4 programs min./20 hours volunteering min./2 year max.

Gold = 6 programs min./30 hours volunteering min./3 year max.

    For AAT

Almost all the trails in the Bloomington Parks and Recreation system have been adopted! Adopt-a-Trail is a very popular program.

    Requirements:

One-year commitment - inspect your trail at least once a month, complete and send in a monthly report form, and complete at least one workday per year.

If you are interested in the CSCP, AAT hours count! Just let me know and we'll get you started. Several people are enrolled in both of these, mutually beneficial programs. You may also be interested in some of the trail-related program links above.

If you have done your February trail inspection(s), please send your forms to me ASAP. Or, this message will serve as a reminder to get outside and enjoy your trail! Inspection forms for February are due by March 1.

    For Everyone

Please let me know if you would like more details on any of the above. Remember, AAT hours count toward Citizen Scientist certification!

If you've taken any nice photos at our parks or on our trails, feel free to share them! We would love to consider them for future publications. Just send the photo to me as an e-mail attachment. Include a brief description of the photo and where and when it was taken.

As always, let me know if you have any questions/suggestions on the programs.

    Kriste
