Weight Watchers Changes Their Tune
The X Gym has always given nutrition guidance based on the latest research, and studies have told us (for years now) that all calories are NOT created equal, contrary to what mainstream dietitians have said. Now Weight Watchers, the nations largest diet organization is finally agreeing with us.X Gym Art Show and Open House
Be sure to reserve July 14th, 6 pm, to be at the Alki X Gym for an open house and art show! Rebecca Bolte, photographer, will be showing her large format prints which will be permanently gracing the walls of the X Gym. These prints, called "Bodyscapes" will feature X Gym clients' awesome and elegant muscles. There will also be healthy snacks to munch on and great opportunities to meet local professionals, because many of the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce members will be there as well.
X Gym Wins Again, Kourtney Shatters Another Record!
OK, no big shocker: X Gym smoked everyone in another stair climb. This one was the Bennington monument (pictured left) in Vermont. Also to no one's surprise, was that Kourtney (Kirkland X Gym trainer) won it and crushed the course record by such a huge margin, it looked like she cheated. For a fun video of the race, check out stairsport.com.
Train Your Brain Today Did you relive a bad memory in reverse and high speed, like rewinding a DVD movie? This scrambles up the way your brain codes things and can make you feel less intensely about something, or even neutral, which can bust triggers for emotional eating!
The movie rewind technique works for lots of people, but some brains code things with still pictures instead of moving pictures, so try this one: 1.) Visualize a picture of a troubling scene (make sure you are in it). 2.) Imagine a picture frame around it and some glass in front. 3.) Hang it up on a wall in your imagination. 4.) Start taking steps back from it in your mind's eye. 5.) With each step, imagine the colors fading, the glass getting dirtier, the resolution getting worse, etc. until you are far enough away that you can barely see the scene anymore. Take 3-4 minutes to do this and see if it makes a difference in how you feel about that memory.

P.S. Please RSVP for the open house to pj@xgym.com, so we have enough food for everyone. You'll want the recipes too, and you'll get them (except for the green sauce, because we've been sworn to secrecy).
Being a night owl can make you fat! Researchers found that people who follow the "early to bed, early to rise" lifestyle eat 248 calories less per day than their night owl counterparts.
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) really is like a magic pill Mainstream is starting to get it. Slowly but surely, they are coming around to our way of thinking. It's no wonder why we have been getting the best results in the industry since 1998!
