Does Your Weight Affect Your IQ?
Let me answer that question with some questions. Do you think eating poison would make you smarter or dumber? How about if you regularly drank a nerve toxin?

If the answers aren't obvious, then you're brain is already too far gone to understand the rest of this concept, but for those of you who are still with me and who realize that processed food is poison and that most soft drinks (and many other beverages) are nerve toxins, read on because research has shown us what our modern food is doing to us besides making us fat!

Contrary to the humorous cartoon to the left, losing weight through cleaning up your diet will indeed make you smarter. Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh scanned the brains of a group of seniors. They were looking to see the differences in the brains of people who were of normal weight, overweight, and obese. They chose seniors because their brains show the effects of being overweight over time.

It turns out that obese people have 8% less brain tissue than people of normal weight. Overweight people have 4% less brain tissue than people of normal weight. The parts of the brain that degenerated for overweight people are very important, because they are not parts that we can spare.

Here are the areas effected:

  • Frontal and temporal lobes: Critical for planning and memory.
  • Anterior cingulate gyrus: Responsible for attention and executive functions.
  • Hippocampus: Important for long-term memory.
  • Basal ganglia: Essential for proper movement and coordination.

Furthermore, the brains of overweight people looked 8 years older than the brains of normal weight people, and the brains of obese people looked a whopping 16 years older!

The solution? Eat REAL food instead of the processed garbage that takes a whole paragraph to list the ingredients. To learn amazing things about REAL food and how delicious it can be, come to the lecture on 3/18 with delicious REAL food hors d' oeuvres included! Just email PJ to reserve your spot!

Train Your Brain Today
Did you think about what healthy habit you have been putting off? The reason for this procrastination is because it doesn't fit within your own identity. It's like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. The strongest force in your psyche is the need to remain consistent with our own identity. Your identity is housed inside your subconscious brain, so how do you get at it to fix this problem? By following the simple programming techniques you can read about in the blog. Check it out today!

For your next brain training suggestion, learn a new skill. Pick something that is completely outside your knowledge and area or expertise. I'll explain why this benefits your brain and your identity in the next newsletter...

Dehydration will also make you dumber.
Most Americans are dehydrated. This affects brain function and alters IQ, mood, attention span and more, so smarten up and go drink your water right now!

Keep using it to prevent losing it in your senior years!
Researchers found that keeping and gaining strength strength as we age is a cinch as long as we stay active, but if you say your getting old and start slowing down, be ready to fulfill your own prophecy!

Today's Quote: "A man of courage is also full of faith"  ~ Cicero

To get truly fit takes courage. To muster the courage to stay with the journey takes faith!
