Honouring Public Service Leadership
Over 400 people  squeezed into the Château Laurier ballroom for our Tribute to Kevin Lynch, former Clerk of the Privy Council.  This memorable evening served as both a tribute to the man himself, and as a way to recognize and celebrate the tremendous importance of Canada's professional public service as a key driver of our social and economic well-being.  With a video tribute from the Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper, and in-person tributes from speakers such as the Rt. Hon Jean Chrétien, Mike Lazaridis, Paul Tellier and Wayne Wouters, the evening was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the best of public service leadership.  For those who weren't able to attend the event, video proceedings of the evening are available on the PPF website, as are many photos
Innovation Nation
Accenture
Last Spring, the Forum convened leaders from the private, public and research sectors for a national conversation about innovation in Canada. Entitled Science Day in Canada, the event was organized as a forward-looking discussion about how to transform Canada into an innovation champion.

Innovation Nation: Building a culture and practice of innovation in Canadareports on the findings of the day, including six areas for priority action.

The conversation initiated at Science Day in Canada will continue over the next year as we bring together small regional groups of leaders to discuss actions that will help build this culture of innovation.  Roundtables have taken place in Kelowna and Victoria, and more are planned for Alberta, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, Toronto, Waterloo, Montreal and Atlantic Canada.  For additional information contact Paul Ledwell, VP, Public Policy Forum.

PPF Heads West
In 1987, a small group of senior government officials and private sector leaders met in Calgary to have an open exchange about pressing public policy issues of the day.  Such was the birth of the Public Policy Forum.  So it is with great pleasure that we have returned to our roots, in a manner, by opening up a Western Canadian office of the PPF.  Professor Garnet Garven, most recently the Deputy Minister to the Premier of Saskatchewan, will head the office which will be located in Regina.  We look forward to this enhanced presence in Western Canada and to ensuring that Western Canadian voices are brought to bear on important public policy and governance dialogue.
Call for Nominations:
Young Leaders Award
Each year at the Testimonial Dinner the PPF recognizes a young Canadian between the age of 20 and 30 who personifies leadership and commitment in the area of public policy and civic discourse.  Through the award we hope to encourage young Canadians to be become involved in public policy and the public arena.  Do you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution and deserves to be recognized?  The nomination brochure and nomination form are now available on-line and we would love to hear from you.
