Adoption Days!

October/2010
Greetings all -

With the weather getting cooler, we have a lot of different events we hope to see as many bulldogs and their families as possible over the next few weeks.

Remember to hug your bully today!

So Cal Bulldog Rescue
"Meet Adoptable Bulldogs Day "
We're doing our monthly adoptable bulldog meet-and-greet with the rescue bulldogs on October 9th, 2010 at Grand Pet Care Center in Santa Ana, California.

It will be from 10 AM to Noon. This will be a time for those that have approved applications and home checks to come meet many of the bulldogs at one time. Look for us in the back greens behind the white picket fence.

Also, if you are a family considering adoption and not sure if rescue is really for you, you too can come and speak with rescue members about the adoption process.

Due to limited space at this location, please no family pets. There will be foster homes bringing their foster dogs for adoption and those bulldogs at the kennel will be there to meet families as well.

Our normal adoption process will still apply with all adoptions. We require applications, home checks and adoption contracts will need to be signed by those adopting a bulldog. The bulldogs are living with foster homes and the foster homes can better share information on any needs or considerations of their particular foster bulldog.

We cannot promise all our bulldogs will be there to meet you, but are planing to have as many as possible there. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled. This is not a not first come, first served adoption event ... instead, it's a time for those interested to meet several bulldogs at one time and discuss adoption in person with several bulldogs there.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Special Bullies

There are over 70 bulldogs in rescue as of the end of September 2010.  Many are from breeders that could or would no longer care for the bulldogs and surrendered to rescue or bulldogs that were left as strays in animal shelters.

Some of these bulldogs are considered special needs since they are older or have had lives that had left them less wanted than most.

We're looking for homes what are able to accept dogs that are older, dare say some that are less attractive that most other bulldogs in some people's eyes and several pairs of bulldogs that have nothing more than each other to keep them company.

 domingoscarf
Domingo came to rescue from Taiwan and was flown over by the rescue that found him abandoned in a small fishing village. He came over with another bulldog that was also rescue, but recently placed and got along with her very well. He is a little of a humper and very active. Domingo has to live in a home with no stairs. He had a leg injury and surgery for the repair, but using stairs is going to cause the injury to come back and that can be avoided by him not having to climb several stairs a day.

TankSitBig Boy was surrendered due to his previous families change in living conditions. Big Boy wants to be the only Prince in his castle so we prefer he be placed as an only dog. He is beautiful and a large boy around 69lbs all muscle and big hunk of love.. He is good with kids but may topple over small toddlers with bully play. Big Boy needs a home that will understand his fear of the broom or mop and maybe clean while he is outside playing.. Big Boy loves his walks and behaves pretty good on the leash, he is great in the car and enjoys car rides and sticking his head out the window..

GuvnerGuvner who can resist this big handsome boy with a big fat nub of a tail? He was a stray that someone found but couldn't keep because their kids were allergic to him. He had a microchip and the shelter contacted his owner several times but they never came to pick him up. They said he got out. This is so sad. Guvner deserves a family that will love him and never leave him. Guvner would do best in a home as the only dog. He is OK with others as long as they do not get in his space. This is a special sweet boy that loves attention and to be right next to you. Guvner is not asking for much just to be loved.
