Camp Changed My LifeThe Lutheran magazine June cover

Have you seen the June edition of The Lutheran magazine?  It highlights our Lutheran Outdoor Ministries and Camps.  If you have ever been to camp, worked at camp, sent a child or grandchild to camp or wish that you have been to camp this magazine is for you!

If you only have time to read one article read this one:

Camp Changed My Life

The entire June issue of the Lutheran magazine can be found here.

Also, this week, camping and outdoor ministry is in the spotlight box of the main page of the ELCA website

We invite you to share your stories about camp with us.  We love hearing how camp changed your life or somebody close to you.  Please send any of your camp experiences to us at Office@LRCChome.com or by mail to LRCC, P.O. Box 3288, Camarillo, CA 93010.

Please also keep camp in your prayers.  This week our Summer Leadership Staff Training is beginning.  The rest of the Summer Staff will join us next week for two weeks of training and then we will welcome our first campers on Sunday, June 27.

Get to know our Summer Staff

Leadership Staff: Tabitha Hall

1.Where are you from? Tacoma, Washington, with Californian and Texan tendencies (but not many).

2.Have you worked for LRCC before?  Yes! I worked as a counselor during the summer of 2007, and volunteered for the 2008 Teen Camp.

3.What do you do in your life outside of camp? After graduating from PLU (in 2008), I worked as an admission counselor for PLU. In the fall of 2010, I will be going to Western Washington University to begin working on my Masters in Teaching. I plan on receiving endorsements in English and Spanish at the secondary level.

4.Fave meal of the day. Lunch! I can gorge myself and have time to recover, and am awake to enjoy it.

5.Fave food and drink. Chicken enchiladas, and ginger peach green tea.

6.Why you want to work at camp: I love working with campers, and thrive in an environment that is supportive of who I am. I believe in spreading the love and message of what it means to be a Lutheran and a friend.

7.Tell us something about your faith journey:  It has been a long, involved process. It is actually still a work in progress, though I did share part of it the first time I worked at camp. For me, my faith journey is about finding myself and reconciling my ideas and beliefs with the complications and challenges that life presents us in a day-to-day basis. My journey includes losing myself - multiple times - and finding myself again through friendships, relationships, and most importantly love-the word I use first and foremost to describe what it means to be a Christian.

8.Something random about yourself: I have more than 90 first-, second-, third-, and fourth- cousins on my mother's side.
