Our recent trip to the Philippines was a huge success.  The hotel was VERY nice, the service was was far more than Americans usually expect, the dive boats were unique (see above) and the diving was fantastic.

We all saw many rare and unusual critters we had never seen before.  It was so good that we are tentatively planning a return trip to the sister hotel in Puerto Galera in 2011.

Congratulations to Joyce and Jack Welch.  They celebrated their 30th anniversary on this trip.  They were honored with an intimate dinner on the beach with everything on the menu served to them, a bottle of wine and a special cake.

Sincerely,

Ron Johns

Our annual Spring trip to Blue Water Lake in Oronogo MO is coming up on April 24-26.  We normally have really good visibility there in the early season.  Dive on a sunken airplane, several sunken boats, including a cabin cruiser, cars and lots of other things.

This is a great way to get the season started.  We will be offering Deep Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Wreck Diver and Advanced Adventure Diver classes that weekend.  Remember, you can't do the Deep Diver class around here in our 25 foot-deep lakes.  Of course, it's a great place to just dive for fun, too.

Join us for our trip to Lake Wazee on May 29-31.  Wazee is an old open pit iron mine that was abandoned and flooded with ground water.  In May, the visibility is usually excellent.

You'll dive on the old mining roads that circle the mine and dive through lots of trees that grew up when that portion of the lake was above water.

This is an inexpensive trip--we usually camp out in the excellent campground right on the lake.  It's a pretty place and a great place for Advanced training.  We'll be offering Deep Diver, Dry Suit Diver and Intro to Tech.  Or, just come along and dive for fun in a new environment.

We have our June trip to Bull Shoals Lake scheduled for June 12-14.  Bull Shoals is a beautiful lake with great visibility.   We've had 50-60 ft visibility there in the past.  Last year the lake was 40 feet above normal and we still had 25 foot visibility.

You'll dive on vertical rock walls, submerged forests, and you'll see lots of good fish life.  We rent a 34-ft pontoon boat for diving.  It's a great platform with lots of room.  Diving is very convenient with the dive shop right at the marina, so air fills are quick and easy.

We'll be offering Open Water Dives, Deep Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Diver Propulsion Vehicle Diver and Advanced Adventure Diver that weekend.  The DPV course is especially fun down there where you can fly through those submerged trees on the scooter!

We'll try for rooms at the Lighthouse Point Resort again.  Each room has a balcony facing west, overlooking the lake.  It doesn't get much better than sitting on the balcony with friends, watching the sun set over the lake.

We have our second trip scheduled to North Carolina to dive for these 10 million-year-old shark tooth fossils.  This is a new experience that is really exciting and you'll bring home some great treasures to share with friends and family.

Print out this newsletter and bring it in to get $7.00 off the Dive RIte Changing Mat.  This is a vinyl mat to keep yourself and your equipoment clean as you dress in and out of your diving equipment.  It rolls up in a small roll for transportation and storage.  After using, simply give it a shake and all the sand and water shake off.  It won't hold water like a tarp--the water goies right  through it.  This is the best thing that ever happened to shore diviers!

Normally $32; only $25 with this newsletter.
