Greetings!
I hope you enjoy this new newsletter format that I'm trying out.
One way to deal with winter is to go diving. We're headed for the Philippines in a couple of weeks. And we were just diving in Florida and Lake Okoboji--from warm caves to frozen lakes. The important thing is to stay wet!
We have lots of things scheduled for 2009. Come on out and get wet!
Sincerely,
Ron Johns Heartland Scuba Center

New Cavern Divers
Orange Grove Sink |

Congratulations to our new Cavern Divers. Jim, Jen and Marty completed their course in January at High Springs, Florida.
They are pretty much in agreement that it was a challenging and rewarding course!
It's easy to tell a new Cavern/Cave Diver--you'll see them practicing their frog kicks every time you see them diving.

New Ice Divers
Lake Okoboji |
|
We had some great conditions for the Ice Diving class on January 31. Air temperature got up to about 40 degrees and water temperature was 36. When we first entered the Blue Water Divers Ice house on Saturday morning, it must have been 100 degrees. We had to shut off the heaters.
Visibility was excellent, probably about 40 feet, even with snow cover on the ice making it a bit dark.
Denise Girard, Jack Welch, and Shawn Albert completed the course and dived on Sunday morning for a fun dive. We're already looking forward to next year's dives.
