"The bid by FirstEnergy Solutions came in significantly under Duke's rate and offered the best savings to residents" explains Springfield Township Trustee, Gwen McFarlin. Ms. McFarlin continues, "The Board of Trustees has been pleased with the aggregation programs we have been able to secure on behalf of our residents." Residents and small businesses have now saved $5,668,305 in the electric program that began in June 2009.
IMPORTANT: Every resident in Springfield Township, with the exception of those who contracted aggregated electric on their own, will receive an opt out notice in the mail. If you wish to continue with the new contract, you do not need to do anything. Anyone who is currently enrolled with the Township program or has the regular Duke enrollment will be automatically switched to FirstEnergy Solutions in January 2012. If you choose not to participate in the Township's aggregation program with FirstEnergy, you may fill out and mail the opt-out notification. * If you receive a call from FirstEnergy Solutions, this is their retail division and carries higher rates than you are able to get as a group with the Township. It is advised that you not switch on your own. Information regarding the Township's aggregation programs can be found at http://www.springfieldtwp.org/utilities.cfm
