A Low Fixed Rate On Electric
Joe Honerlaw, Township Trustee said, "Myself and fellow Trustees, Tom Bryan and Gwen McFarlin are pleased that we were able to lock-in a low rate that will allow participants to plan and budget in these trying economic times." Honerlaw added, "Our program provides an alternative to Duke Energy's electric supply charges. We have experienced great success with our natural gas aggregation program and see this as another opportunity to potentially save Township residents money."
Since Duke's rates vary based on customer usage and season, not all residents or small businesses would save with the Dominion fixed rate offer. Dominion Retail will mail an opt-out notice to those customers with an estimated annual price-to-compare greater than 6.88 cents per kWh. That group represents approximately 80 percent of Township residents and includes the accounts most likely to save.
Richard Zelenko, Dominion Retail Vice President said "We're pleased to serve the residents of Springfield Township and eligible residents and small businesses should look for an opt-out notice from Dominion Retail to arrive on or about April 3, 2009. Those account holders will be enrolled in the program unless they contact Dominion Retail and ask not to be included." New customers to the program must be current with their Duke bill payments, cannot be part of the utility's Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP) and must have a rate code of RS (residential) or DM01 (small commercial).
