SPRINGMay, 2012
Dear Parents,

We hope you are finding time to get outside and be active now that spring is here.  And believe it or not, summer is almost upon us and your children need their physicals for camp and school!  Lake Shore Pediatrics and The American Academy of Pediatrics recommend yearly health maintenance exams for all children and adolescents, and these exams are required for all kids entering kindergarten, 6th, and 9th grades.  Also, if your child plays competitive sports or takes a prescription medicine of any kind, yearly physical exams are required.  We are currently scheduling appointments through August, so call soon to get your choice of day, time, and physician!

TV tip-over injuries on the rise

Since the year 2000 over 160 children have died because of injuries sustained by heavy televisions falling over on top of them.  In fact between 2008 and 2010 alone, over 13,700 children were seen in Emergency Rooms after being struck by television sets.  To read about ways to prevent these all too common injuries, please click on this link for tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Thank You!

Once again, we thank you for entrusting Lake Shore Pediatrics with the health and safety of your children.  We appreciate your referrals as well.  Please visit our website at LakeShorePeds.com for more information about our practice.
