Infant Tylenol (acetaminophen) has a new concentration.
In order to avoid confu sion and improper dosing with baby/infant Tylenol, all acetaminophen products are now the same concentration: 160mg per 5ml of fluid. However there may still be some "old" concentrated infant drops on the store shelves or in your medicine chest. Please see the link at HealthyChildren.org here for a dosing table (by weight, not by age) for your child. Remember to double check the concentration of the acetaminophen you are giving! The FDA also has a good webpage here that explains this concentration change in more detail.

Vaccines for you and your children.
With the recent rise of whooping cough in the Chicago area, it is recommended that all adults get a one time whooping cough (Pertussis) booster. All adolescents receive this (TdaP) when they turn 11 years old. This is especially important for parents and caregivers of newborns, who are considered "high-risk" for contracting whooping cough. Speak to your physician about how you can get your TdaP vaccine soon.
Believe it or not, "the flu" is still coming. Over the past few years, January through March have had the highest number of influenza cases in Lake County. Flu vaccines are still the best way to reduce the likelihood of contracting and spreading influenza. Lake Shore Pediatrics has plenty of flu shots still available. Don't wait until it's too late to prevent the flu!
The Human Papilloma Virus vaccine ("HPV", Gardasil) is now recommended for all adolescents. This vaccine prevents aggressive viruses that can then lead to cancer. Please click on this link to read why boys should get this vaccine too.
