Late Summer NewsletterAugust 2011

LastellaSalve,

Late summer is a great time to visit the winery; the mad dash of harvest starts in late September. The tasting room is open 7 days a week and our staff loves seeing all of you!

Our fall releases are coming soon. Our September newsletter will mark the official release of our big hearty 2008 vintage red wines - the Allegretto and our flagship Maestoso. This also means we are reaching the end of the line for the 2007 vintage of these wines.

In this issue:
As always, we hope you're enjoying the summer and we wish you all the best!

Ciao!

Winemaker's Note

James Cambridge

I was sitting on my deck the other day trying to get better at playing my guitar and it gave me pause to think about the incredible things that this group of people has accomplished in a short period of time.

In any endeavor it's the people that make the difference in the ultimate success or failure. The Salems started the company in 2005 and some extraordinary things have happened since - it speaks to the character of their ownership that they are now bearing the fruits of their hard work.

As a team at LaStella we make some of the best wines this country has to offer, but no matter how well you make it they require boots on the ground to sell them. From Jay Drysdale, Rasoul Salehi, Mohamed Awad and Christopher Stewart, to our amazing retail people it has been fun to watch the growth and maturation of our little company.

It's not easy when you decide to play in the deep end and there are those who tell you that you can't, but it's more rewarding when you strive for something greater than mediocrity - and achieve it! Greatness comes at a cost and I'm happy to see that we are well on our way.

So to the entire LaStella team, well done!
James Cambridge

merlotLaStella's Merlot Program

The glory of the Allegretto and Maestoso

The fall release of the 2008 editions of the LaStella Allegretto and Maestoso Merlots is right around the corner. What that means is that we're at the end of the line for the 20072007 Maestoso editions we've all been enjoying at the tasting room and in our homes.
Soon, the (small) remaining amount of these two very special wines will be moved to our wine library for safe keeping over the next couple years.

2008 Pre-Releases (until October 2011):

As well, we're opening the taps on pre-orders of the spectacular 2008 versions of these wines! Prices have stayed the same this vintage, and as always we offer a 10% discount on pre-orders. Pre-orders can be placed by email or by telephone (604-697-0989). We expect the 2008 Allegretto to be released in October and the 2008 Maestoso around November, just in time for the holiday season.
tastingroomTasting Room Report

Less traffic in the valley has been a boon for the tasting room!

Tasting Room

The valley has seen much lighter foot traffic this year, regardless of the volume though, we treat each and every single as a VIP.

We spend time explaining not only WHAT and HOW we do things differently than our neighbours, but most importantly WHY we do things differently! This is at the core of how we have changed our presentation and focused on the passion that's in every wine at LaStella.

Because we get to spend quality time with our guests we build a much better rapport - the response has been overwhelming. Our LaStella Wine Society has been filling up at an incredible pace and sales of our ultra premium Maestoso have been stronger than we ever imagined. Unlike many tasting rooms, we take pleasure and pride pouring our top wines for all our guests and this summer we've come to look for the "Maestoso grin" that crosses guests faces when they finally taste it.

It's what's in the bottle that makes people talk - word of mouth is priceless!

Less foot traffic means more time with each guest, bring it on!!!!
