Greetings!
I recently traveled to Atlanta for Convergence. It's a huge, weeklong Microsoft conference with an impressive agenda. I attended many great sessions, but my favorite part had nothing at all to do with business or technology. Actually, it was the day I volunteered with more than 100 other conference attendees. We built playgrounds for children in a low-income community through a program called Projects with Purpose. It was an incredibly rewarding experience. I came back totally invigorated.
If your team has been running low on energy or motivation lately, volunteer work could be just the morale boost you need. Community service not only helps those in need; it also benefits the volunteer. It's a win-win. Volunteering enriches people both personally and professionally. They gain knowledge, exercise skills and extend their social networks. It fosters enthusiasm, optimism, self-esteem and a sense of achievement. In a nutshell, community service is so rewarding that it creates a natural euphoria. And, it's contagious.
If you truly want to motivate your staff -- to attract and retain employees who are willing to go the extra mile for customers, who are loyal and want to see the business succeed -- don't rely on contests or parties to create incentive. Help them find a sense of purpose. Encourage them to give through community service.
Sincerely,
Donavan Lane, CEO

3 Tips for the Accounting Software Hunt
If you're in the market for accounting software, there's no end to your options and the things you should keep in mind. It can be overwhelming. Here are 3 considerations to refine your search and make it more manageable. |
Focus on Analytics, Find a Silver Lining
As challenging as the recession has been, it has offered many companies a silver lining. Businesses have been forced to scrutinize operations, and as a result, they are seeing opportunity they hadn't seen before.
A recent study by CFO Research showed that more companies are focused on analytics this year. Sixty percent of the CFOs surveyed said that they want high-quality, more reliable management reporting. Improved efficiency was listed as a top priority by 56%. Business leaders are looking for an easier way to make smart business decisions with confidence. They need more than a good overview. They need the ability to easily dig into the details.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV meets that need with direct real-time access to business-critical information. Microsoft Dynamics NAV is built on industry-standard Microsoft technology and integrates with other Microsoft business intelligence (BI) products and technologies.
