Greetings!
As a business owner and Microsoft partner, I'm constantly asked about the trends I see among ABC customers. People are extremely curious about the market conditions and what they can expect in 2011. Most are surprised by my response -- pleasantly surprised.
While many of our clients were forced to reduce staff by as much as 20% last year and earlier this year, those same companies are now reporting record breaking profits. Yes, they're having banner years. How is that? Simply put, they've found ways to do more with less.
More specifically, a staggering number of our clients are leveraging the increased Section 179 deduction to invest in software and systems that help improve operational efficiencies. Most people think Section 179 is some mysterious and complicated tax code; it really isn't.
In essence, Section 179 allows businesses to deduct up to $500,000 of qualified equipment, software, and/or vehicles placed into service in 2010 and 2011. Additionally, the legislation has restored the 50% Bonus Depreciation for qualified equipment and software placed in service in 2010. This measure benefits small, mid-size and large businesses because it is not capped. Even if the equipment or software is leased, businesses can take advantage of both tax incentives.
Cheers to those who made 2010 a banner year! I'm thrilled for you. Your success is a leading indicator that 2011 will be much brighter. I just know it will be an exciting year! Sincerely,
Donavan Lane, CEO

Windows Phone 7 Means Business
It's no surprise that sales of the Windows 7 phone began just in time for the holiday season, but does it live up to all the hype? Is it more than just another consumer gadget? We think so.

Are Digital Devices Dumbing Us Down?
Cell phones, which have become full-fledged computers with high-speed Internet connections, let people relieve the tedium of exercising, the grocery store line, stoplights or lulls in the dinner conversation. Now, instead of having a moment of downtime, every waking second can be filled with text messages, e-mail, Internet connectivity and games. But is this constant digital connection harming us? |
