YOGA 4 CASA

Yoga4Casa

To mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, we've launched Yoga4Casa, a new online campaign. We're partnering with the Kripalu Center and yoga studios throughout the Boston area to offer great yoga-themed raffle prizes for anyone who donates during the month of October, including a 2-night stay at the world-famous Kripalu Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Why yoga? Because we felt there was a natural alignment between the goal yogis to achieve health and balance in their lives with our goal of promoting healthy, balanced intimate relationships. For a full list of prizes and participating studios, please click here, and make sure to pass the word on to your yogi friends!

DV FAST FACTS

Did you know...

  • Abuse isn't just physical or mental. Financial control is also a hallmark of abusive relationships.
  • When an abuser controls your finances, it can make it very difficult for you to leave the relationship.
  • Signs of financial control in an abusive relationship include: using your credit or debit cards to rack up debt or empty your bank account; making you sign over your paycheck; stealing from you; selling your possessions; spending the money you have saved for bills; making it hard for you to stay employed by harassing you at work.
  • Casa Myrna offers financial literacy counseling and workshops for women who have been in abusive relationships. We also provide referrals to pre-paid computer literacy and ESOL classes, AND assistance with job training, résumé writing and job searches.

Our goal is to ensure that survivors of abusive relationships have the tools they need to build sustainable self-sufficiency.
