YMCA'S TRAINING, INC. PARTNERS
WITH CASA MYRNA

Basic computer skills, practical internships, direct connection to sustainable employment. These aspirations are becoming reality for women at Casa Myrna thanks to a new partnership with the YMCA of Greater Boston. The YMCA's Training, Inc. program equips participants with the skills they need to secure sustainable employment. Scholarships to attend the program are available to us through a competitive Microsoft grant received by the YMCA. READ MORE

IN LIKE A LION, OUT LIKE A LAMB...

During the month of March, we celebrated the start of spring and the achievements of women around the world as we marked International Women's Day on March 8th and Women's History Month.Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton commemorated the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day by saying, "... let us mark this day by finding ways to ensure women's and girls' access to education, healthcare, jobs, and credit, and to protect their right to live free from violence."

Here at Casa Myrna, our ongoing work with women who've been impacted by violence, abuse and trauma continues each and every day. Recognizing their incredible fortitude - as well as that of women across the world - is something to celebrate.
As March comes to a close, we're busy preparing our 6th public awareness ad campaign which will spotlight teen dating violence and resources for help.
Stay tuned for more details!

ON THE COMMUNITY BLOCK

One of the challenges facing a nonprofit like ours is getting our services out into the many communities where they're needed.  How to do that without significantly increasing our costs?  Partnerships, partnerships, partnerships! Collaborating with health centers, courthouses and community centers allows us to use their space for our advocates, which is a win-win for both: the organizations we partner with increase the scope of the services they offer, and we add to the neighborhoods we serve without needing to rent additional space. READ MORE

CASA MYRNA HAS A NEW LOOK

Visit www.casamyrna.org to check out our newly redesigned website! Elevation, a Washington, D.C.-based web developer that specifically works with nonprofits, created the site, using the open-source content management system Joomla (for those techies out there who might be interested!). We hope you'll find the website easier to navigate and full of helpful info!

We'd love to hear your feedback... on what you like, don't like, and/or what additional resources you would like to see. Email info@casamyrna.org with your input!
