Race Recap
All of us were hustling around Western North Carolina to sponsor and support the flurry of races the fall season had to offer.
The DH National Championships were in Beech Mountain, NC in September. We got a first hand look at the top level DH talent from around the country. We went up to support our local riders and Team RM East. You can see photos here. Congrats to some of our customers who raced: Ryan Taylor, Craig Folson, Andy DeVault, Ed Buchan, Cecil Linder, Kate Weisenfluh, and Anne Galyean!
A few days later was the Pisgah Stage Race. Kevin and Mike were at the race every morning for tech support and wrenched on bikes for Adam Craig and overall winner, Jeremiah Bishop. We know that Pisgah offers some the best trails in the US and this race really showcases all the region has to offer.
Next up is Paris Mountain DH on November 13, near Greenville, SC. We'll have a tent set up so stop by and see us.

Words from Moab
So for the last few years now, we've made a point of heading to Moab, UT for some riding that's a bit different from what we have here in the 828. These trips are not only good for morale, but they also offer us an opportunity to really test (beat down) the suspension we choose to hang on our bikes. Those lucky enough to have been to Moab know that the fast, rocky and technical nature of the trails there will push the limits of both the rider and the bike. We were focused on riding the Whole Enchilada but as luck would have it, Burro pass was buried under about a foot of snow. Two days of riding from the top of U.P.S. trail down to the Colorado River proved to be just fine though. As with any good mountain-bike vacation, we were able to pull off moves toward the end of the week that we never would have attempted in the beginning. After a few beers one evening, we decided to go ride Slickrock trail with no lights - just a 2/3 full moon and one designated driver... amazingly no one got seriously injured. I was running RockShox stuff front & rear on my bike... a Vivid Air on the back with a modified Lyrik (coil) up front. Everything performed well - the Lyrik was solid and predictable but I'm going to need a little more time (and tuning) with the Vivid before I'm ready to ditch the coil springs. We're already looking forward to the trip next year. I'll keep you posted. Kevin Here's Mike on Magnificent 7 in Moab

Welcome Chris! Chris Skolnick joins the team later this month as our newest Technician. We're excited to bring him on board and to get him at a workbench as soon as possible. Chris comes to us after working in bike shops in New York and Utah. He's got a passion for mountain bikes and for the intricate details of suspension. He also helps coach mountain bike skills clinics around the US. We think he'll fit in just fine at the shop and on the trails of Pisgah. |
