NEW SHOP OPEN
Greetings!
After many late nights and weekends, we finally moved in to our new space. Here's a peak inside the new shop. We're still at Unit K (we just moved the sign above the door), so continue to use the same address for shipping: 89 Thompson. St. Unit K, Asheville, NC 28803. Photos by Mike Rischitelli, click here to see more of his work. Now that the move is over, the great news is we're back to our signature fast service and 48 hour turn around. So give us a shout when you're sending your fork or shock and we'll have it back to you before you know it. |

SUSPENSION EXPERTS SPONSORED RACES
SERC Series Final, Fontana, NC, August 1-2 The Trek South East Regional Championship series wraps up this weekend. Look for us under our new blue tent top. In addition to suspension consultations and soft tuning, we'll have new gear for sale. Here's the race schedule and the downhill race course map. Check out Gone Riding for details.
Triple Crown Downhill Race Series, Beech Mountain, NC, August 8-9 Even if you're a cross country rider, it's worth the drive to Beech Mountain to see riders working a DH course that requires serious skills. Stop by the Suspension Experts tent to meet our new O.C. Technician, Mike Rischitelli. Click here for more info on the event. |
FOX MODS
Frequently the modifications we've made available to the public for Fox forks have been focused on valving. Shimmed dampers offer a variety of tuning options to control the flow of oil which, ultimately, controls the ride. We can build a shim stack to suit anyone... from the smallest to largest rider.
Our latest modifications, still in the testing phase, are related to bushings. We've searched the world over for a better quality replacement bushing for Fox forks and we're currently testing a product from Germany that looks very promising. Watch for some test forks to appear under riders in the WNC area and soon we may even have a complete test bike cruising the trails with the top-secret technology hidden inside.

SUSPENSION 101
Leverage Ratio: Wheel travel divided by the shock travel. Front forks have a 1:1 ratio. When the wheel moves an inch, the fork moves an inch. Rear suspension designs differ greatly in leverage ratio. The most common is 2:1, in which the rear wheel moves 2 inches for every inch of shaft travel at the rear shock.

LOCAL BUZZ
As a family owned small business, we make every effort to support our fellow entrepreneurs in the region. Here are some of the local North Carolina companies that have been getting our business lately:
- Mountain Xpress: look for our ad in the upcoming edition recognizing Mountain Bizworks, the non-profit specializing in small business training and loans to entrepreneurs in Western North Carolina.
- American Speedy Printing: cool stainless steel looking business cards for all us, designed and printed in West Asheville.
- Embroider Your Logo: this Weaverville based business does all our custom embroidery work. Regular baseball and new fidel style hats are now in stock.
- Defeet International: brand new S.Ex socks are on the way from this global comapny out of Hildebran, NC. What's your mod?
- Packaging Corporation of America: branded boxes manufactured locally in Morganton.
- French Broad Brewing Co.: get your growlers filled around the corner from our shop in Biltmore Village. Our Friday favorite is the Re-Session Ale.
- Urban Burrito: our go to lunch spot these days for mega-stuffed burritos in all combinations. Try the tomatillo burrito with tofu or pulled pork.
- Blue Moon Water: we stay hydrated with local mountain spring water delivered directly to the shop.
- Bean Werks and Izzy's Coffee: last but not least, the two West Asheville coffee shops that get us going in the morning. Bean Werks for their Black Widow whole beans and Izzy's for a quick cup to go.
Thank you to all the local businesses, both small and large, that help us do what we do. We hope you'll support them too.
