| What's happenin' Honey? |
Did you know that if you eat one tablespoon of LOCAL, RAW HONEY
a day, you can cure 90% of your seasonal allergies? It's true. The pollen from the honey will build your immune system to respond quicker to allergens in the air which means you will have less symptoms.
Another great reason to start using honey, sugar feeds sick, infected and diseased cells. It's like steroids for the common cold. Local, raw honey is an all natural sweetener that does not have the same effect. Start switching today! |

| New Inventory Policy | |
In an attempt to cut costs and expedite supplement orders, we will be making changes to our inventory policy. As we transition over to this new system, you will notice that less inventory will be stocked in the office. Instead, we will be doing more per-order ordering. Many of the top selling items such as enzymes, probiotics, fish oils, anit-inflammatories and immunse support will still be carried. As orders are placed, we will be requesting a pre-payment. If you would like your order sent directly to your home, this will now be an available option, for an additional fee.
Thank you for your cooperation! |
| Want to be sick less? Wash your hands more. |
Proper handwashing is the most effective way to stave off sickness during cold and flu season. Make sure you are following the correct steps.
1. Use warm water (not hot!) and soap. 2. Rub hands vigorously in between fingers and around knuckles. and all the way up to your elbows for 30-60 seconds. 3. Dry hands completely. Germs fester in damp spaces.
Make sure you get under your rings. More germs live under your wedding ring than there are people in the entire continent of Europe! |

| Fall into local, seasonal eating! | |
Shopping at local farmers' markets boosts the local economy while preserving the integrity of the planet. It's also a lot of fun to people watch and catch up with friends while sampling seasonal delicacies. The Pittsford Plaza farmers market is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8 am - 2 pm until November 23. Looking for something closer to home? Check out Monroe County Farmers Markets.
Some of the foods that are prevalent in autumn include broccoli, cauliflower, collard greens, peppers, pumpkins, and apples. Here are two quick recipes to welcome your palate to the tastes of autumn:
Steamed Cauliflower with Red Wine Vinegar Sauce
1 lb of cauliflower, steamed 3 tbsp red wine vinegar 2 tbsp (vegan) butter 2 tbsp diced green pepper 2 tbsp diced red pepper 1 tsp sugar 1/4 tsp salt.
Set cauliflower aside. Mix remaining ingredients in a saucepan. Cook on low heat for 5-7 minutes. Drizzle sauce over cauliflower and serve.
Quick Pumpkin Dip (Pair with apples, pears or warm bread)
8 oz. cream cheese 1 c light brown sugar 3/4 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 2 tsp cinnamon 1 15 oz can pumpkin puree
Pulse cream cheese in blender or by hand until smooth. Mix in sugar and spices until well blended. Finally, add puree and mix well. Refrigerate until served.

Greetings!
Fall is a transition time. A time that we are drawn back into the comforts of home. Kids have returned to school routines. The leaves are showing brilliant colors and the autumn air is crisp and refreshing. Before we get swept up in the excitement of the holidays and another year passes by faster than the last, we still have time in 2010 to strive for excellence. Fall is a great time to remember the goals that we set at the beginning of the year, and where necessary get back on track. Fall is also a great time to "winterize our health." Does you and your family's routine have what it takes to get through the winter without illness?
There are many tips in the following articles to stay ahead of the game and to boost up your system to prevent sickness. There are a number of nutritional supplements that we can recommend to stock up on and have in your medicine cabinets. Any regimen should be started at the first sign of symptoms for optimal effectiveness. The footbaths and cold laser therapy are also very effective at warding off infection and moving the lymph to help with drainage. Sick patients are always welcome in our office!
The fall is also a great time to do a cleanse. I personally do a cleanse every spring and fall. What we have found is that patients who cleanse prior to the holidays are less likely to sabbotage their eating habits and to gain weight. Cleansing not only helps you lose weight, but also diminishes cravings for alcohol, caffeine, sugar and salt!
Remember to stay positive and be clear about the life that you want to live. You can accomplish anything that you can conceive. Sometimes, we just need a little help with believing. Stay connected to others who are positive and tune into motivation, wether it is online, a TV program, book or magazine. Subscribe to healthy thinking!
In good health naturally,

| Sweat it out! | | | Exercise will keep you healthy all year long.
Every year our kids go back to school and soon enough they bring home germs. Exercise can beat back the common cold and most illness all year long in many ways. The more consistent your workout, the stronger your body is inside and out. Consequently, your body fights off infection and germ invasion more efficiently.
Here's how:
- Exercise increases circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid. Blood contains fibroblasts, powerhouse cells that heal injury. The blood also contains vital nutrients and antibodies that keep your whole body healthy. Lymphatic fluid is your body's primary defense mechanism. The more it flows through the body, the healthier you stay.
- The more you maintain your exercise goals the quicker your body metabolizes. This means your body is getting rid of waste faster, including infection as well as toxins.
- Exercise is a stress buster. This is good news because stress is one of the biggest causes of illness. Feeling your shoulders creep up, that tense spot in your back, a little tired and cranky? Go for a jog, a fast walk, lift some weights, ride your bike, do 3 sets of 10 pushups and 3 sets of 20 situps, do as many pullups as you can. Just get your heart pumping for 30 minutes. You'll feel better immediately and your body will melt away the stress and possible illness.
- Exercise helps you sleep better. Your body rests and repairs with adequate sleep. For a properly functioning immune system, you need 7-9 hours each night. 30 minutes of exercise 3-5 times a week can improve your sleep enough to make a marked difference in your health all year long.
Stay healthier throughout the year and use your "sick days" for more enjoyable uses like a play day, a mental health day or a long weekend. Now get moving and stay healthy! |
| The D.U.I you want - D Used for Inflammation | | |
When an injury occurs, the immune system triggers an inflammatory repsonse to fight bacteria and help repair damaged tissue. The inflammatory response includes redness, swelling, and an increased local supply of white blood cells. Even after trauma, the inflammatory response may be excessive and result in unnecessary pain.
Granulocytes, the white blood cells specific to fighting bacteria, are produced in bone marrow -- so our bones are part of the immune system! It's no wonder then that vitamin D boosts immune system function and reduces inflammation while enhancing bone health. Along with regular chiropractic adjustments, increasing vitamin D intake is crucial for a healthy immune system. Wild-caught salmon, eggs, and milk are good sources of vitamin D.
