 Why Detox?
A common question that we are asked is, "I don't smoke or drink, so why do I need to detox?"
Without sounding negative, we live in a toxic world. Everyday, we are increasingly exposed to pesticides, heavy metals, preservatives and food additives, volatile organic compounds (VOC's), chemicals in the air we breathe and the water we drink or bathe in. Dr. Becky Natrajan
Unless we eat only organic 100% of the time, even our food sources are contaminated with pollutants and hormones and are often chemically or genetically altered. An even more complicating factor is that our food today is nutritionally deficient due to mineral bankruptcy in soil quality. Furthermore, processed foods or foods containing hydrogenated oils negatively affect our cellular health.
Our bodies can't keep up. We have systems in place to eliminate impurities, but over time and without a solid nutritional foundation, toxins start to accumulate in the body. Scientists and doctors are now looking at the connection between toxic overload and some of the leading diseases that afflict our population today: cancer, obesity, diabetes and heart disease to name a few. When our internal chemistry is unbalanced, our bodies become a host for bacteria and parasites.
What is a Nutritional Cleansing Program? The Isagenix programs are much different than colon cleansing or juice fasts. Just as it sounds, colon cleansing can be too aggressive and accompanied by days of discomfort and trips to the bathroom, often resulting in dehydration.  What to Expect During Detox
The accumulation of excess water weight and fat cells is the body's protection mechanism from the harmful effects of toxins. This is an attempt for the body to dilute the toxins.
With the Isagenix cleanse, most people see an increase in energy. The increase in energy could start as soon as the first day, when toxins start leaving fat tissue and are excreted with water through the kidneys. However, as toxins are released from fat cells, there are symptoms of detox that you should be aware of. These symptoms are an indication of how toxic you are and will gradually alleviate over the first few days on your program.
A mild headache may arise.
Diarrhea may be a temporary (and positive) cleansing symptom.
Feeling hungry: can be resolved by eating provided or approved snacks such as celery or apples.
Constipation during the first 2 days, usually resolves itself on day 3 when you start having shakes and a meal.
F eeling light-headed or dizzy can occur when your body is excreting too much salt with the large amounts of water that you are drinking.
Difficulty thinking or extreme weakness in the body is a symptom of low blood sugar.
Nausea or vomiting (during first day) rarely happen, but are an indication that your body is very toxic.

If you cannot tolerate the symptoms, your cleansing coach can suggest modifications to keep you on track.
The good news is that everyday on the cleanse, the positive changes that you see and feel far outweigh any symptoms that you are experiencing. The results refuel your motivation to continue on. The Isagenix program also comes with a diary to track your progress. You can take before and after pictures, write down your goals for weight loss, and measure the inches that you lose. At our office, we have a scale to measure % body fat. Feel free to stop in and measure your results regularly. You will see drastic results after only 3 days as inches fall off!
