The
Mesa Verde Association is a joint
membership program of the Mesa Verde
Museum Association and the Mesa Verde
Foundation. Your MVA membership supports
both of these 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organizations.
The Mesa Verde Museum Association
(tax ID 84-1404606) provides educational
and interpretive material to visitors
of Mesa Verde National Park through
an active publishing program and the
operation of retail bookstores online,
in the park, and in Cortez, CO. Our
services enhance the visitor experience
and promote stewardship of Mesa Verde's
world-renowned archeological resources
and natural landscapes. Proceeds from
all Association operations are donated
to the park's interpretive, research,
and education programs.
The Mesa Verde Foundation (tax ID
84-046967) funds capital improvements,
projects, and educational endeavors
for Mesa Verde National Park. Our
projects include construction of a
new Visitor and Research Center near
the park's entrance and remodeling
the existing Far View Visitor Center
into a Tribal Cultures Center to enhance
understanding of the connection between
the Ancestral Puebloans and contemporary
Native American tribes.

Ute
Mountain Ute Art Show Ends October 30

Contemporary Ute Mountain Ute tribal
art remains on exhibit and for sale
in the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum
Gallery and Museum Store in Mesa Verde
National Park through Sunday, October
30, 2011. This special opportunity for
the public to view and purchase tribal
artwork, including paintings, pottery,
baskets and beadwork, is the result
of a partnership between the Ute Mountain
Ute Tribe, the nonprofit Mesa Verde
Museum Association, and the National
Park Service. Admission to the Museum
and gallery exhibit is free, but visitors
must pay an entrance fee when they enter
the national park. The Museum is open
daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The
present Ute Mountain Ute Tribe reservation
is located in the Southwest corner of
Colorado, the northwest corner of New
Mexico and a small area in Utah. Featured
Ute artists in this exhibit include
Norman Lansing along with various Ute
Tribal artisans from the areas in and
around Towaoc, Colorado and White Mesa,
Utah. Proceeds from all show purchases
support Mesa Verde National Park as
well as the artisans and the tribe.

8, 2011--not only is that the evening
of Mesa Verde’s annual open house and
luminaria lighting, but also we’ll be
holding a special members-only reception
to kick off the evening! Plan to drop
in to “Quarters One” (the historic superintendent’s
house) between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Mountain

park’s free open house features an array
of holiday programs, refreshments, free
