Meet park superintendent Cliff Spencer, park administration, and Mesa Verde Foundation and Mesa Verde Museum Association board and staff as you enjoy complimentary light refreshments and (weather permitting) stunning views at this beautiful historic structure.

Holiday Open House Reception

Please include the names of everyone in your party so that we may prepare nametags for you.We hope you will stay after the reception to attend the park's annual Holiday Open House and Luminaria lighting from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. People of all cultures and traditions participate in this holiday celebration that features special tours, luminarias, musical entertainment, and refreshments. The regularly scheduled ranger-guided tours of Spruce Tree House, the third largest cliff dwelling in the park, will be presented at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
Special evening tours will be offered at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Luminarias will glow along the pathways throughout the headquarters area, a National Historic Landmark District, and along the trail to Spruce Tree House. The Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum will remain open until 9:00 p.m. MVMA's Museum bookstore will also be open until 9:00 p.m. highlighting the sale of books, posters, puppets, historic photographs, and great holiday gift ideas. The Spruce Tree Terrace will help take the chill off by serving complimentary chili, cookies, and hot chocolate. Dress warmly and bring a flashlight.Directions to the Superintendent's Residence: take the main park road to the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum/Park Headquarters loop. The Superintendent's Residence is below and behind the post office, next to the Headquarters building, and is perched at the edge of Spruce Tree Canyon. Walk from the parking lot to the post office building (look for the second flagpole). Proceed east on the service driveway that passes the post office and ends next to the Headquarters building. Take the path to your right to enter the residence.
