Featured Product of January:
Our Grounding, Adaptogenic Stress-Busting Powder
Among our 140 plus high-quality, loose leaf teas---some our own lovely Proprietary blends, such as Joy and Focus--- and our over 100 plus bulk herbs sits a quiet and almost forgotten shelf of herbal powders. These powders are a component of Ayurvedic (or ancient Indian) medicine.
Last week, a dear, loyal customer visited us; I was out her favorite herbal capsules, so I offered her the powder of Ashwagandha until the capsules arrived. The capsules did arrive the next day and thrilled I saw her at the register; to her astonishment, she was no longer interested in using the easy-to-take capsules and wanted to purchase more of the powder which she could prepare in a warm drink of almond milk at night.
Her reaction was not that suprising...we resonate with food and food we prepare. Each whole food or simple, close to food-based herb, is healing to us---taken at the right time, in the right proportions and for the right person.
So, share with us the calm, grounding and deep and immune boosting of our adaptogenic stress busting powder. We have a version specially prepared for men and one specific to women.
At home, you can add ½ teaspoon to morning smoothies, afternoon green matcha lattes, or evening warm almond milk for a 5 minute self-love break, or come up with your own ingredients.
At Passiflora, we love to add it to any smoothie or latte. Our ingredients include: Ashwagandha, Eleuthero, Tulsi (holy Basil), and Astragalus...and other stress-reducing. Feel stronger and more vital with each sip!

Dear Friends,
Thank you for helping us last month to raise a share in goat for Heifer International.
We have been blessed with another busy weekend here at Passiflora. We deeply appreciate your loyalty.
We have many exciting adventures planned for this year here at Passiflora. I am lucky to be among customers and employees from whom I can learn each day... Never mind those 5 children I mention in most newsletters. They are trying to keep me somewhat up-to-date on web-sites, Facebook, Twitter etc. Watch for the e-commerce part of our web-site which will roll out in the coming months; my blog on herbs, which I will start devoting one full day a week to by mid-year; and my improved Facebook skills (no, lily, you don't have to friend your old mom).
As you know, our menu has been updated for hearty winter eating---including our new warm breakfast additions. And although our organic garden for Passiflora is asleep, we do not scrimp on providing you with the best in organic vegetables, whole grains and all ingredients in our food. Each of you that knows me understands that I am militant about you never having any high fructose corn syrup in your house. Genetically modified products frighten me and should frighten you. Studies are starting to be released about the potential harm to your liver and kidneys from certain types of this science. These products give you Type II diabetes and make Monsato rich, while you get to spend extra time at the doctor's office. So, vote with your dollars for your families health.
An exciting preview for February, Terry Walters, the local author of the nationally and internationally acclaimed cookbook, Clean Food, will be joining us for a presentation on February 25th entitled Transforming Stress. We will be serving a fixed price dinner prepared from 3 recipes in her cookbook (Check out our web-site for details).
May the blessings of winter give you time to steep tea, prepare your own dinner often and sit around the table with loved ones.
To a happy, healthy 2010 for your and your family,
Karen Tyson, the Goddesses and Chef Jimmy
