United Way of Northwest Michigan provides a unique opportunity for employees of a company to Live United. Not only does United Way provide a way for employees to invest back in their own communities, but we also provide volunteer and advocacy opportunities for employees that align with their interests in helping people in our local community. A gift to United Way is the single most effective way to make the biggest impact in people's lives.

There are many ways to be involved and engaged based on your interests and needs. If you are interested in learning more about the workplace campaign and joining other local business leaders in workplace giving, please contact Michelle Krumm at 231-947-3200 Ext. 204.

Help A Neighbor

Can you give a few hours a month to a low-income senior?  The Northwest Michigan Transportation Alliance (NMTA) needs your help in Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Antrim counties. Many seniors can't afford to take the bus or taxi and do not have transportation. Drivers are needed for medical appointments and medication pick-up. If you can help, please contact Susan McQuaid at Ext. 205 for more information.
Youth Grants
The Youth grants Citizen Action Team (CAT) met over the last two days and interviewed agencies that applied to United Way of Northwest Michigan for grant funding in support of programs for area youth.

This CAT had $100,000 dollars from donors to invest in programs that benefit youth in the five-county region.  A report of the programs and the amount awarded will be posted on our website on Monday the 14th.

Speakers Bureau

It is through the United Way many people learn about the needs of people in our community. We are also often the way people learn about the agencies which are helping meet these needs. For many people we are also the way they choose to respond, either by giving their time as volunteers or by donating money.

Before people make a contribution they have to first know about the need. That's why we are training people like you to help tell this story. These volunteers are invited to go to various groups like churches and civic groups to tell them about the need and what the United Way is doing to help.

If you'd like to become a part of our Speakers Bureau contact Michelle Krumm
