We are purchasing hot lunches for students in one of the elementary schools that we work with here in Jerusalem.  Most schools in Israel do not have cafeterias; therefore, they have hot lunches catered in 3 days per week (at the parents' expense).  If children cannot afford these lunches, then they have to bring something to eat from home.  The problem, however, is that most of these children do not have any food at home to bring.

 

We have been purchasing hot lunches for children in need for several years now, and what we've learned is that this hot lunch is often the only hot meal these children eat in a day.
