Greetings!
Greetings from Jerusalem!
For starters, we want to extend a hearty thank you to each of you who responded to our Children of War Plea to send children and their families living on the edge of the Gaza Strip to the North for a weekend get-away.
We had such a huge response that we were able to do 3 different projects to bless the residents of Sderot.
Check it out:

| SDEROT: ESCAPE TO THE NORTH - PART 1 |
|
|
This is the original idea that we had when we sent out our Children of War email. Two weeks ago, we sent 110 Russian new immigrants (children with their parents) from Sderot to the North of Israel for a weekend get-away.
They drove to Tiberias, checked into their holiday resort, then boarded their busses again for Metulla to spend several hours ice skating in the Canada Center. After that, they all went to see Madagascar 2 in the theater. After returning to the resort for dinner and some relaxation, they enjoyed an evening of dancing and karaoke.
On Saturday, they took family jeep trips on the Golan Heights, relaxed some more and then later in the day headed back to Sderot.
This was such a huge blessing for these people! To escape the sounds and reality of war for even just a weekend was such a relief.

| SDEROT TEENS TO J-TOWN |
|
|
Once we realized that we had money leftover, Dov came up with the idea to bus 40 teenagers from 2 different kibbutzim on the border of Gaza to Jerusalem for a day of fun and escape.
They arrived in Jerusalem (affectionately referred to as J-Town) in the early afternoon and we took them bowling. After playing a couple of games, we had a pizza party for them. They then boarded their bus and headed to the J-Town mall to hang out (you know how teens love the mall), they ended the night at the movies (they could pick whatever show they wanted to see). When the movies were over, they boarded their bus and headed back home.
Again, these really fun, "normal" teens had a blast and were extremely grateful!!

| SDEROT: ESCAPE TO THE NORTH -PART 2 |
|
|
Our final (for now at least) project is happening this weekend. We are sending 100 Ethiopian new immigrants (again children and their families) from Sderot to the North. They will be staying in the same holiday resort that we used 2 weeks ago; however, this group is a more observant bunch, so their itinerary will look a bit different from the one we put together for the Russians.
They will be going to the Canada Center for ice skating as well as swimming, but beyond that, we are still working out the details.
Early next week, I will be uploading pictures onto our website on the "Showcase" page, so please check it out for more pictures of these 3 events.
Again, we are so grateful for your quick and generous response to that original email. You have to know the impact these events have had on the people of Sderot. We are so blessed to be able to help people in so many different ways through MBKI's programs, but this one by far has touched my heart in very unexpected ways.
Thank you, and may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob pour blessings into your lap too numerous to contain!! | |
If you are interested in supporting the work that we do, you can donate online via our website: www.mbki.org or send a check to PO Box 331293, Nashville, TN 37203
We hope that you have a great month filled with the blessings and favor of the Lord!
Blessings from Zion,
Lyndee Gelman, General Manager My Brother's Keeper International
