November 2009
Dear ,

Tom & claudia RossonNovember is always a difficult month for students. Final exams are getting closer. Papers begin to be soon due. Ministry in local churches begins to develop thus taking more time. And getting around Moscow is an art for itself - and the key ingredient is... yep, you guessed it... lots of time! Yet despite the November doldrums, There are some really great things happening at ETSM. Below are a couple of recent reports from Moscow.

Student Profile: Dmitri Voronkov
Dmitri Voronkov A Calling to Prayer
Dmitri comes from the Central Russian city of Orel.  At age 16, he was invited by his aunt to attend a Pentecostal church. Shortly after this first visit, Dmitri submitted his heart to Jesus as the Lord of his life. The results of his decision were life-changing - in both his habits and improving his family relationships.

After a couple years to grow in the faith, Dmitri was asked to lead the local church's prayer ministry and night vigils.  He led them with not just simple prayer per se, but also sharing from the Word.  In the course of time, Dmitri's pastor encouraged him to attend various conferences on prayer. The result was that Dmitri began to share his enthusiasm about prayer in his local church.  Dmitri realized and felt the need for more of God, for more of knowing Him closer and deeper.

Eventually, Dmitri felt led to go to Bible school and is now in his first semester at the ETSM.  He is very reliable person in ministry and student life, mature above his age. He plans to return to the Orel region.  With this in mind, Dmitri asks for prayer that during his time at ETSM, that he will grow spiritually and develop more clarity in his calling in the areas of his spiritual gifting.
Accreditation is Official
ETSM Receives Official Recognition through EAAA
We reported in February that the visiting committee of our regional Evangelical accrediting agency recommended that ETSM receive its accreditation for our two bacherlors programs.

EAAA CertificateIn November, the Eurasian Accrediting Association (E-AAA) made it official. At it's biennial assembly, E-AAA officially approved our accreditation. In attendance at this meeting in Minsk, were the school's chief administrators: Dr. Thomas Rosson (President), Dr. Ilya Okhotnikov (Provost) and Dr. Alexei Gorbachev (Academic Dean).

OCI MinskAlso during the conference, Ilya Okhotnikov was elected into the executive committee of E-AAA. Additionally, Alexei Gorbachev presented to the delegates the status of the online program that is being developed by a consortium. ETSM is one of the leading members of this consortium.

Spiritual Formation in Seminary
Finally, our key staff members attended a seminar hosted by Overseas Council on spiritual formation in the seminary context. One of the presenters was Alexei Gorbachev. He and his wife Tatiana also facilitated several of the small group discussions during the seminar.
Again, we realize that our work is spiritual in nature. And we could not continue without the prayer and finanacial support of our friends from around the globe like you. Please keep us in your prayers. Thank you for your interest in our ministry in the former Soviet Union.

Sincerely,

Thomas Rosson
