We have redesigned our disability blog to be simple and easy to use. Feel free to view and post questions and comments about the disability claims process and share your stories with us. We have improved our free case evaluation questionnaire which will allow you to provide us with important information about your personal situation so we can assess your chances for successfully winning your claim. We have incorporated a special current news and events section so that you can keep up to date with newly implemented programs offered by the Social Security Administration, as well as changes that have taken place with the rules and regulations that govern the disability claims process.

The American With Disabilities Act (ADA) Technical Assistance Program
The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) Technical Assistance Program is a grant offered by the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. This grant offers funding to organizations in order to provide technical assistance and educational activities for people with disabilities. It is an educational grant, so it only provides funding for educational materials within the scope of the ADA. Nonprofit organizations and other organizations educating people with disabilities can apply for this grant via the Department of Justice, and funding is usually given within 60 to120 days of the application.

Carolyn Colvin Confirmed as Deputy Commissioner of Social Security
The United States Senate today confirmed Carolyn Colvin as Deputy Commissioner of Social Security to a term that expires on January 19, 2013. President Obama nominated Ms. Colvin in October 2009. She will serve as the principal deputy to the Commissioner of Social Security as well as the Secretary to the Social Security Board of Trustees.

HUD and HHS announce joint effort to assist nearly 1,000 non-elderly persons with disabilities to move from institutions to independence
Federal partnership delivers first rental vouchers, supportive services for this group
January 6, 2011: WASHINGTON - U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan and Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced today a joint partnership between the two agencies to help nearly 1,000 non-elderly Americans with disabilities leave nursing homes or other healthcare facilities to live independently. This is the first time two federal agencies are offering a combination of rental assistance, health care and other supportive services targeted to this population.
