2010 Title 1 Academic Achievement Award

Dear School Principals:

2010 Title I Academic Achievement Award

Congratulations. I am pleased to announce that your school has been identified as a 2010 Title I Academic Achievement Award recipient. Yesterday, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O'Connell, personally called each school principal to congratulate them and to thank them for all the school's hard work at meeting the challenge to close the achievement gap. Your commitment to educational excellence for all students is to be commended.

Your school was identified as a recipient because it met the 2008 and 2009 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) criteria and met the 2008 and 2009 Growth Academic Performance Index (API) targets for the school overall and for all numerically significant subgroups. In addition, your school doubled the schoolwide and SED subgroup API targets for the past two years. The award criteria can be found on the California Department of Education (CDE) Title I Academic Achievement Award Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/sr/aa/.

A list of the 2010 Title I Academic Achievement Award recipients is attached along with the news release sent out this morning.

The CDE is planning a celebratory event at the Disneyland Hotel on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Additional information and registration documents for the event will be e-mailed to you by Friday, February 26, 2010.

Again congratulations to your entire school community for a job well done!

 We are also asking for donations of wine, both red and white, (ex: Cabernet, Syrah, Malbec for reds - Savignon Blancs and Chardonney for white), as well as large bottles of vodka and rum for the event.

January spiritwear and popcorn party winners are Mrs. Gallant's class, Mrs. Herndon's class, and Ms. Kelly's class!  Congratulations!  Let's give these wonderful classes a little more competition!  Don't forget to wear red white and blue on Fridays!

On Friday, February 26 from 8:00 - 8:45 am we will have our 3rd Annual 'Morning Snack with Dad' Event at Hamilton.  You and your students are invited to the Multi-Purpose Room for FREE morning snacks and drinks.  Learn more about our WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) Program, meet other WatchDOG Dads, and sign up to be a WatchDOG this spring! 

 

'Dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers . . . this is your chance to spend time with your student in a fun atmosphere at school and come sign-up to be a WatchDOG!  Look for more information in this week's Friday Folders.

Race for Boxtops Extended
 

Ahoy Mateys!  Great news from the high seas...The Hamilton Cup Race for Box Tops has been extended ONE WEEK!  Now we have until Friday, February 26th to clip those Box Tops and Campbell's Labels for Education and help your classroom sail across the finish line!  If you think your class has missed the boat for the Fantastic Fruit Smoothie Party, now you have more time!   So all you landlubbers ask your friends and family to help too.  Every Box Top and Campbell's Labels for Education earns money and supplies for our school!  The classroom with the most collected wins the Smoothie Party!  Anchors Aweigh!!
