Welcome to the November edition of Going Green with EverGreen Concepts.  This month we are focusing on making your home more energy efficient!  We have lots of great tips on how you can lower your energy bills in easy, affordable ways, as well as great investments to make your home work for you!  Look for our "Going Green" segment on Lowcountry Live every other Thursday (see details below). Please forward our newsletter to your eco-minded friends and family, our newsletter and consumer seminars are always free!  Most of all, remember that even in challenging times, one person can't do it all; but if we each do one thing, together we can change the world for the better!  Happy Thanksgiving and without you we wouldn't be here so thanks for your support!

Free & Low Cost Ways to Save Money on Your Energy Bill:

1. Lower your thermostat! A 5 degree difference will save you 10% or more on your heating bill!  A programmable thermostat is a great, affordable solution that allows you to control the temperature when you are not home.

2. Turn off/Unplug computers and appliance when not in use. A laptop uses 90% less energy than a traditional desktop model.  Plug several appliances into one power strip - less things to turn off.

3. Only run your dishwasher/washing machines when they are full. Also, air drying your dishes rather than running it through the drying cycle on the dishwaher will save you $$.

4.  Hire the Sustainability Institute to do a Home Energy Audit.  They will give you a list of suggestions and EverGreen Concepts can find the local businesses to take care of any improvements!

5. Check into tax credits for making your home more energy efficient.  Improving your home is less expensive then you may think and the government will help offset your costs.  The money you save each month on your energy bills will pay you back and you will enjoy your home so much more! Click Here for more info on Tax Credits for Consumers.
