Basic Tools:
A series of three classes, on Sunday January 10th, 24th and February 7th, from 1-5 pm.
Have you been described as "too sensitive"? That is often how the people that I work with are described, but in fact what they are is "very" sensitive, and that is an important distinction for people who have been invalidated all of their lives for the powerful gift of sensitivity. Our society does not give us good tools to help us handle energetic or spiritual sensitivity. I am happy to announce that I will be offering the "Basic Tools" class series in the Chicago area for the first time. "Basic Tools" is designed to give you simple, easily accessible tools to help you create an entirely different experience of your life as a being in an energetically capable body. We will use meditation as an arena for the exploration of the energy system that is the foundation of your life in a body. We will focus on making your space in the body safe so that you can bring more of your awareness as spirit into all the aspects of your self and on clearing the energies that make being home in your body painful instead of delightful. Your experience of life as a being in a body is entirely what you make of it and this class is designed to give you a set of tools and a language to describe your experience that can profoundly change your life.
The class is entirely focused on practical experience. There are no textbooks or handouts. Instead, we will spend most of our time actually creating as spirit in our own bodies with plenty of time for questions. This is a process of doing, seeing and knowing as opposed to understanding and thinking. While I have been teaching an evolving form of this class for 25 years, this format will be an experiment for me in learning how to teach as a traveler. While I will record the classes, because of the amount of ground that we will cover each week, it is not recommended that you miss any of the classes.
The cost for the series will be $295; which can be paid in three payments but if it is pre-paid in full by January 5th there is a $50 discount. I am limiting this class to 20 students so that no one gets lost in the crowd and pre-registration is required.

Embracing the Deep Feminine
Join us in this joyful and spirit filled journey SUNDAY ~ January 31, 2010 1:00 ~ 5:00 p.m. Please arrive at 12:45 p.m.
In this gathering Sacred Middle Eastern (Belly) Dance is used as a vehicle for the journey into the deep feminine. Women come together in common unity through this ancient form of dance. The dance originated as ritual in fertility rites and modeled the movements seen in nature. This was at a time when women and men were both honored and respected for their unique gifts. Women were in their fullness and this journey into the Deep Feminine is simply a remembering and exploration of that knowing. Throughout time women have gathered together and danced with each other all of their life events...falling in love, birthing their children, mourning a death, and expressing their joy in the sisterhood. . . . all while entering the Mystery. Included in this retreat are a mindful learning of the dance, the telling of stories, and exploring our connection and disconnection with the Deep Feminine. Cost is $90. ~~~ Check website for directions www.claruscenter.com Gatherings are facilitated by: Francine Passias Mind-Body-Spirit Healing Middle Eastern Dance Teacher Creator of Moving into the Body ~ Mindful Movement ~ The Body as Resource ~ Embracing the Deep Feminine Francine is Certified in Hakomi Experiential Psychotherapy, Advance Hypnotherapy, and is trained in Somatic Release for Resolving Trauma, Internal Family Systems Therapy and Matrix (Group) Leadership . There is great joy in the knowing and healing of ourselves when we experience a full felt-sense presence in our bodies - a coming home. We may have moved away from, or may have forgotten how to move into this space - this body - that is an essential resource. This movement journey invites us to remember, deepen, and integrate our instinctual knowing. IN THIS GATHERING WE WILL: Establish mindfulness Witness our inner experience through movement Embrace the wisdom of our own dance Embody our sense of self Join in common unity
MOVING INTO THE BODY are individual three to four hour workshops or weekly classes, which will move us into our bodies utilizing several movement methods that acknowledge the power of self- healing and the body's capacity to reveal. We will engage in the practice of Mindfulness, which is the development of an alert inner quiet that allows us to witness our individual journeys gifting us with safety and a deeper awareness of our own inner truths. Mindful Movement groups incorporate a number of movement methods and give us the opportunity to witness and track our inner experience in the present moment. In all movement groups we create an environment for each of us to respectfully explore and savor our experience.

Book Corner
As newsletter editor, I am going to take the opportunity to write the occasional column on books that I find interesting that you might like too. Currently, the book that fascinated me was Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma." In it, Pollan follows four types of meals from beginning to the actual eating of the meal. He traces a bushel of corn from Iowa farm field to its various destinations, traces the evolution of organic food from movement to industry, checks out a local "grass farm," and learns to gather and hunt for his final meal. His wholistic perspective of what goes into what we eat, and how we got to this place is enlightening. Don't worry, it's not preachy. I guarantee you will see eating as a much more complex process than you ever imagined. And if you are interested in clean eating, this book is a MUST READ!!
