Currently, over 18 million people in the United States practice yoga. Why? Simply because it works. In fact, it works wonders.
The Hatha yoga experience brings not only physical health benefits, but also a sense of ease, clarity and wholeness. Our practice will be deliberate and mindful, and include accessible poses, breathwork and guided relaxation. Ours is a secure and non-judgmental setting. Experience this for yourself and come home to who you really are.

Yoga Basics
All any of us want is a happy life and peace on Earth.  Yoga is a science that enables this possibility.  the yoga we'll practice is a gentle, mind-opening journey into ourselves.  We will use a no-frills, down-to-earth approach to understand why this 5,000 year old practice still works today.
  •  Please wear comfortable clothing and practice on an empty stomach (so that the body isn't distracted by digestion).  Try not to eat for at least two hours beforehand.
  • If you already have a yoga mat, please bring it, as I have a limited number of mats.  We have several other props such as blankets and eye bags.
  • Feel free to contact me directly before you sign-up.  Your questions and concerns are welcome.
Be advised that, to honor my personal time commitment, i am not able to offer refunds or make-up classes.  The optimal way to benefit from this program is to attend all four classes.

Barbara (BJ) Sadtler, MA, RYT has been teaching since 2001 and is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.  The teaches yoga the original way: one-on-one and small classes.

For Chronic Pain Sufferers  and The Clinicians Who Treat Them

Skillfully Aware: A Mindfulness Program
That Teaches Chronic Pain Patients How to Heal

A one-day workshop, Friday, September 18, 2009

Patients suffering from the complex combination of pain, chemical dependency and mood disorders pose a great challenge for healthcare providers.  When used as a treatment method, a daily mindfulness practice has proven effective in helping these complex patients to heal.

Teaching patients to meditate and develop a daily mindfulness practice provides a framework for their own self-care. Patients can then initiate their own self-directed healing which has the effect of lowering healthcare utilization while at the same time improving outcomes.

This workshop will teach participants how to bring the benefits of meditation into their personal and professional lives. Participants need not be familiar with meditation to begin to understand its benefits and begin teaching some basic techniques to patients.

  • Objectives:
Participants will learn the science that supports meditation as a comprehensive bio-psycho-social treatment method
  • Participants will understand the Eastern conceptions of mind and emotions and a process for working with them
  • Participants will learn how to meditate and utilize a variety of meditation techniques to work with pain, obsessions and compulsions, strong urges and emotions
  • Participants will learn how to develop a daily mindfulness practice and to teach their patients to do so as well
  • Participants will be able to use mindfulness in their practices as a means to strengthen other complimentary medical, psychological and physical therapies

Dr. Mark Pirtle is faculty for Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine. He created the first ever pain program at Sierra Tucson, a world-renowned in-patient rehabilitation hospital. Mark develops programming and provides health and wellness consultations for guests at Miraval Resorts. Dr. Pirtle has written articles ranging from healing chronic pain and chemical dependency to meditation and artificial intelligence.

Mark has practiced mindfulness meditation for years and spent months abroad in retreat in a Buddhist monastery. Combining the disciplines of biology, psychology, systems dynamics and meditation, he developed a program for people suffering from the complex combination of chronic pain, chemical dependency and associated mood issues that he calls "Skillfully Aware™."

Mark lectures around the world inspiring patients and professionals alike with this unique and immediately applicable mind-body approach to healing.  Mark travels to see patients, although his main practice is located in Tucson, Arizona.

FLOWER REMEDIES

CHAKRAS gaye's flower

AN ENERGETIC PARTNERSHIP FOR BALANCE

with
Gaye Mack, M.A.,
Flower Remedy Practitioner

Sunday, September 27th
7:00-9:00 p.m.

$45-Pre-registration is essential

Faith or fear?  How we respond to our external environment depends on the emotional and energetic patterns rooted within our chakras.  As spirit in body, our soul constantly pushes us toward harmony amongst these centers, bringing them into full expansion. The emotional imprints of our charkas are excellent maps for discovering unexplored territory.
As healing tools, flower remedies discovered by British physician Dr. Edward Bach, have a powerful and unique rapport with the energetic patterns of our chakras.  This relationship is invaluable in assisting us in the challenging work of our soul's intent for this lifetime.

Join Gaye as she discusses the dynamics between flower remedies and these energetic centers, Dr. Bach's esoteric philosophy of healing, and the vibrational profiles of  selected remedies.  Attendees will also learn how to use specific applications through their own, personal formulas.

Gaye is Co-Founder of  Women Creating Change, inc. with Marilyn Dam-Rabolt, R.N., M.S.N., and was among the first group of  U.S. practitioners on the International Register maintained by the Dr. Edward Bach Foundation in the U.K.  Building upon Dr. Bach's work, Gaye's work currently focuses on alchemical applications of this therapy that includes additional flower remedy repertoires.  She has been a  frequent international conference speaker, workshop facilitator and is the author of Igniting Soul Fire: Spiritual Dimensions of the Bach Flower Remedies & Making Complementary Therapies Work for You.  Her latest book project, The View: Mind Over Matter, Heart Over Mind, in which she is a contributing author along with Neale Donald Walsh, was released May, 2009.  Gaye's books will be available for sale at this event.

Many of us experience a longing for wholeness and a sense of connectedness with others and with our inner most selves. When it comes to our sexuality, giving ourselves permission to find joy in our bodies and feel our aliveness can be a challenge, particularly when we have absorbed messages of shame.
Through guided exploration we can encounter our inherent sexual, sensual and spiritual energies and awaken to their meeting place within. We can discover parts of ourselves that have been in hibernation and begin the practice of engaging our creative energy, expanding it and discovering the unique ways it serves us.
We offer the space to delve into our inner wisdom, find our own answers and to differentiate between cultural messages and our own knowing.
A variety of activities will be used in our journey such as conversation, body movement, journaling/ meditation, and art. Absolutely no prior experience is necessary.
As facilitators we understand the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment to do this work. Together we will make room to share, learn, explore and celebrate our vitality. As we honor each person we allow for unique unfolding. All are welcome.
