Gymnastic nationalsRye Y Gymnastics Team Scores High at YMCA National Championships
The Rye Y Gymnastics team returned from the National YMCA  Gymnastics Championships in Milwaukee with multiple medals. The nationals were held June 28-July 2 with 105 other teams from throughout the United States.Read more
Monks Rye Y Adventure Campers Visit Tibetan Gomang Monks 
On Monday, July 23, the Tibetan Drepung Gomang Monks of the Dalai Lama presented a pageant at the Wainwright House for Rye Y Adventure Campers. The monks used vivid storytelling to educate their audience about ancient Tibetan Buddhist culture.  Read more.

Events
fall 2012 guide Fall Registration starts August 8 for Members. Online registration starts at 6 am. Most children's aquatics classes are not available for online registration. (Please mail in or drop off registration lottery form by August 7.  An evaluation form is required.) 
Non-Member Registration starts August 15
at 6:00 am in person or 7:30 am in person.

Glee Club, Percussion, Creative Fine Arts, Girl Power Sports, T-Ball Vacation Camp, LEGO Fundamentals plus the following Special Needs Programs: Wave Ryeders Inclusive Pre Team, Inclusive Practice Team, Special Needs Activity Program and LEGO Fundamentals (inclusive). 
Families:
Zumba Birthday Party, Aquatic Playtime for Youth with Special Needs & their famlies, Swim Lesson Family Fun, Family Dinner Theater Transformation Face Painting
Adults: Social Group/Workshops for parents of children with special needs, Endurance Swim Training, Racquetball Club, Monthly Healthy Living Cooking Classes at the Wainwright (watch for details).

We still have a few spots left in our All Aboard Camp!
All Aboard Camp runs 8/20-24 ($405) and 8/27-30 ($365). The program consists of daily field trips and is open to those campers, ages 7-12, who have been enrolled in any of our other summer camp sessions during the season. Contact Member Services at 967-6363 if you are interested in enrolling your child.
Summer Yoga Workshop Series at the Wainwright - Thursdays - 5:30pm-6:15pm - Free to Members

August 2- Partner Yoga: Bring your own partner or work with a variety of other yogis in attendance. Fun approach to the practice and offers new insights and experience of familiar poses. 

August 9 - Yoga-a-Go-Go- Yoga for Moving Kids: Yoga can aid in teaching a child focus and balance and acceptance and confidence. Yoga poses and practices modified into a playful, non-judgmental format for fun and relaxation. Special Needs children and their families welcome. 

August 16- Intro to Meditation: Experience a variety of meditation techniques and styles for beginners. Learn tips on developing a regular meditation practice at home.
August 30 - Ha-Ha-Ha Hatha: Playful Twist on Yoga- You'll be surprised by how easily the body opens in this fun, playful approach to traditional hatha yoga asanas. Come slither, leap, and roar your way to a stronger, more peaceful you.

YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program
New session starts in September!  
Click here for a checklist that will help determine if you are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. If you are at risk, our lifestyle modification program can help you take control and provide tools for healthy living. FEES: Rye Y Members: $100; Non-Members: $160. Financial Assistance Available. ANNUAL MAINTENANCE PERIOD: 8/18 - 9/3  

During this period, various areas of the building will be closed for repairs, painting and cleaning. Click here for a detailed schedule.   

Highlights:

-Renovation of girl's locker room & shower area (2nd floor)
-Resealing the parking lot and repainting lines. As the parking lot will be unavailable during this work, THE ENTIRE FACILITY WILL CLOSE FROM SAT., 9/1 at 12 NOON THROUGH SUN., 9/2.  We are closed 9/3 for Labor Day. We will open as usual on Tuesday, 9/4.

For your safety, we close our pools during periods of lightning and thunder and they remain closed for 15 min. after the last sign of lightning and thunder. During thunder storms, please call before heading to the Y to swim.  

Parking Reminder Please be courteous and safe in the parking lot and park only in designated spaces on Mead Place. When our parking lot is crowded or full, parking in a municipal lot is an option.
