Sugar Gets the Boot at Rye Y Diabetes Prevention Forumdiabetes prevention
Every generation has its preventable health challenge. Smoking defined the fifties and sixties while the start of the 21st century witnessed a nation's expanding waistline and explosion of the obesity epidemic. And now in 2011, we have what some benignly call "a touch of sugar," the popular nickname for diabetes and pre-diabetes. As the 7th leading cause of death in the US and a major cause of heart disease and stroke, there is nothing sweet about this growing epidemic. Read more.

The Rye Y honored longtime YMCA members (of 20 years or more) at a special Ambassador Reception on November 20. Dozens of members enjoyed refreshments and chatted with each other. Read more.
OliviaRye Y Gymnastics Team off to a Strong Start
The Rye YMCA gymnastics team kicked off the season at the Trumball YMCA Harvest Invitational on November 20 with six other YMCA teams. All the Rye Y team members won medals, including first place level 5 all around champion Olivia Ham, second place all around champion Jessica Graham,  Read more.

6th Grade Social - Saturday, Dec. 3, 7-9 pm
All Rye Middle School 6th Graders are invited to a social event at the Rye Y. (6th graders ONLY) Enjoy a great evening of with music, inflatables game room, gym and more. Fee:  $5
Holiday Family Gym, Swim & Dinner w/Graham Clarke Friday, December 9, 5:30-8:30 pm
Enjoy an evening with your kids at the Rye Y with swimming,  gym games,a healthy family style dinner and a special concert with Graham Clarke. Free to Members. Click here for details and to register.
Santa's Visit - December 15, 5:30-7:00 pmsanta
Children of all ages - come by and say hello to Santa and make an ornament to take home. Refreshments will be served. No registration is required.
Drop and Shop with Mad Science - Dec. 17, 10 am - 4 pm
Drop your kids off at the Rye YMCA for a day of fun while you finish your holiday shopping. The kids will swim, play games, make crafts and participate in a special workshop with MAD SCIENCE. Please send child with a lunch, bathing suit and swim cap.  Click here for details and to register.

Have a fun, active school vacation this December at the Rye Y! Several half day and full day camps to choose from: Basketball , Gymnastics, Mix it Up and Fun Club. Click here for details and to register.
December Teen Nights
The Rye Y is open for basketball, swimming (swim caps required), working out, video games, or socializing with friends. Teens can also try air hockey, pool, ping-pong or foosball in the Game Room.
All are welcome, Rye Y members are free and Teen Access members are $5.00. Don't have a teen access card?

Swim Team Home Meets - please check website for special pool schedules. As finding a parking spot may require more time than usual, we recommend you arrive about 15 minutes before your scheduled class/activity.  Please consider using one of the Rye Municipal Parking lots.

Please be courteous and safe in the parking lot and park only in designated spaces on Mead Place. When our parking lot is crowded or full, parking in a municipal lot is an option. Thank you for your cooperation and  understanding!

Family Swim for Children with Special Needs.  Sundays -  9:00- 9:45 am.   A facilitator will assist with fun games, safety skills and helpful tips in the water. Open to youth of all ages. One adult must accompany each child with special needs. Free to Rye Y members; Non Members: Free for special needs child(ren) plus 1 adult per child. Non Members: Normal guest fee will apply for additional family members that attend. No sign up necessary.

 New Year's Eve Spin  Come to our special spin class on 12/31. 4:30-5:45pm
