Rye Derby & Healthy Kids Day
Hundreds of families, racers, and kids at heart enjoyed a sunny Healthy Kids Day and Rye Derby at the Rye Y on Sunday, May 2. The event was made possible by dozens of sponsors and volunteers; proceeds will go towards Rye Y scholarships and teen programming. The winners of the 5 mile race were:

Winners - Male: 1st place,  Kumsa Adugna 23:57.3; 2nd place, Genna Tufa; 3rd place, Abiyot Endale
Winners - Female: First place, Serkalem Abhra at 27:58.0; 2nd place, Sebleledet Kasahun; 3rd place, Kristina Dorfman
1st place Rye Male: Conor O'Driscoll; 1st place Rye female, Kristina Dorfman

Membership Changes
Effective May 1, several changes have been made to Rye YMCA Policies:
  • Family memberships now include children enrolled in college until they are no longer in school or turn 23 years of age, whichever occurs first.
  • Hold Status  is now available to current members who would like to place their membership on hold for a minimum of two months and a maximum of 5 months. The fee is $10 a month. Hold Status request requires 15 day written notice and does not apply to Youth or College Away memberships.  
  • Smoking will not be permitted on any Rye Y premises including outside the facility, the grounds, and the parking lot.

Mini Camp for Pre-Schoolers - Registration now open
June 7th - June 11th & June 14th - June 18th
9:30 am - 1:00 pm, Ages 3-5 - Space is Limited.
We are offering two Week Long Programs for preschool age children. .Children will participate in Music, Arts and Crafts, Outdoor Play & Swimming.Lunch must be provided. *Must be Toilet Trained

Gymnastics Open Workout - 5/13
Thursday, May 13, 6:30-7:30 pm, Ages 7 and up
Come and take part in our open workout program - work on all four Olympic events, plus Tumble Trac, and Mini Trampoline instruction. Gymnastics experience required. $20.  Non-Members welcome. Register online

Fun Club Day - 5/12 - Rye City Schools
Wednesday, May 12 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Grades K-6
Enjoy a day at the Rye Y and watch "Furry Vengeance" at the Port Chester Movie Theatre. Pack Lunch. $60 for ASA/KT Members and $75 for Non Members. Space is limited. Click here to register online
Rye YMCA Annual Dinner - 5/13
Thursday, May 13, 6:30 - 7:30 pm at the Apawamis Club in Rye.

Blood Drive - 5/15
Saturday, May 15, 9 am - noon
Give the gift of life!  Stop by the Rye Y to participate in a blood drive benefiting the White Plains Hospital blood bank.
Senior Health & Fitness Day - 5/26
Wednesday, May 26, 9am - 1:00 pm
Activities include: Breakfast on the Go, Stir Fry Cooking Lesson, Zumba!, Preventing Hip Displacement, Chair Shiatsu Massage, Gentle Chair Yoga, Hatha Yoga,  Posture and Balance, Easy Stretches, Healthy Luncheon and Free Raffle with over $1000 of GREAT Prizes.

Summer Aquatics Classes

May Teen Nights
The Rye YMCA is open for basketball, swimming (swim caps required), working out, video games, or socializing with friends in the Teen Lounge. Teens can also try air hockey, pool, ping-pong or foosball in the Game Room. Rye Y Members: Free; Teen Access Members: $5.00; 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Friday: (Grades 9-12) 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28
Saturday: (Grades 6-8) 5/1, 5/8, 5/15 (no teen night on 5/29)

Several safety classes, including Babysitting, Infant & Child CPR, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Adult CPR and AED.Lifeguard Training, Waterfront LIfeguard Review and our new Lifeguard Management class start in May and June. Please click here for details.

Rye Y members are invited to Wainwright House Affinity Groups including:
Women in Conversation: Midlife and Beyond (every first and third Monday of every month 7:15-9:15 pm
Connections: Adult study program, Tuesdays from 10:30 am to noon.

Health Reminder
The Rye YMCA encourages members to take these simple steps to protect your health while here at the Y:
 -   Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing
-   Wash your hands often with soap and water
-   Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
-   Try to avoid close contact with sick people
-   If you get sick with the flu, stay home from work, school or other public places
